Relay For Life of the Crystal Coast

Relay For Life of the Crystal Coast At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much.

The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.

Thank you so much Perdue Farms Lewiston for your support of the American Cancer Society! We couldn't do this without you!

We are thrilled to honor Perdue Farms Lewiston associates with the Hero of Research Award after they raised more than $165,000 in 2020 to support the American Cancer Society. These funds will help support Dr. Michael Lewis’ lifesaving breast cancer research at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, helping to fund the future for so many Americans. Since 1995, Perdue associates have raised more than $1.7 million in support of the Relay For Life of Bertie County, NC. Thank you, Perdue! #PerdueFarms #PerdueProud #RelayForLife #WhyIRelay

Despite the challenges we face during the COVID-19 pandemic, cancer screening remains a public health priority. The American Cancer Society has joined the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and 74 other leading health organizations to encourage appropriate cancer screening and treatment to prevent excess deaths during this health crisis.

This March – Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month – the American Cancer Society is supporting nationwide screening efforts by educating people on safely returning to screening. Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. for men and women, but many colorectal cancers can be prevented or caught early when they might be easier to treat. That’s why getting screened is so important.

Michael Emanuele, PhD, from UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Claudia Benavente, PhD, from The Regents of the University of California, Irvine, were recently awarded one of five TheoryLab Collaborative (TLC) Grants by the American Cancer Society and Emerson Collective. With their one-year grant, they will study the potential of harnessing the ubiquitin system as a therapeutic approach in triple-negative breast cancer.

Today is World Cancer Day! #WorldCancerDay #earlydetectionsaveslives

Today is World Cancer Day, a day when organizations and people around the world unite to raise awareness about cancer and work to make it a global health priority. Every year, nearly 9 million people worldwide die from cancer. The American Cancer Society is on a mission to change that. The aim of World Cancer Day is to raise awareness and educate people on how to fight cancer through screening and early detection, through healthy eating and physical activity, by quitting smoking, and by urging public officials to make cancer issues a priority. #WorldCancerDay #EarlyDetectionSavesLives

Is it time for your cancer screening? #AttackingCancer

While cancer screenings have been delayed because of COVID-19, cancer hasn’t stopped. Less preventative care now means later stage diagnoses and more preventable cancer deaths.

We’re joining with the @National Comprehensive Cancer Network and 74 other leading health organizations to encourage the prioritization of cancer screening: now is the time to resume preventative and prescribed care in coordination with your health care provider.
