I had the opportunity to visit P.S. duPont Middle School on January 9, 2025, to teach students about the Wilmington City Council and the kinds of legislative issues we work on, as well as what it's like to be on the City Council. Ms. Heidi Corbin, a Business Teacher/CTE Department Chairperson and Business Professionals of America (BPA) Advisor at P.S. duPont Middle School, reached out to me with the goal of teaching her 8th-grade Exploring Business students about my professional journey and the challenges and opportunities I've encountered. Students learned about the impact of my City Council role on our community and how government functions as a business.
I also shared projects and big moments I've experienced and worked through during my term in the 108th Session. Students asked questions and were able to learn what it takes to get into politics, and what it's like to run for office as they explore business topics and consider their future career paths.
