With sincere gratitude and joyful hearts… THANK YOU. πŸ’™

We are beyond honored and overjoyed that Transitioning Together was chosen as the beneficiary for the 4th Annual Teeing Up with Zack Golf Tournament. What an incredible blessing it is to be supported by such a caring community and by a family with hearts as big as Zack’s.

Being there and seeing the love, encouragement, and belief in our mission means more than words can express. Opportunities like this help us continue creating inclusive experiences, meaningful connections, and community for adults with special needs right here in Wilson.

A huge thank you to the whole family, especially Zack, Karen, and everyone involved in Teeing Up With Zack, the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who made this event possible. We are so grateful for each of you. The Kiwanis Club of Wilson All American gathered for their weekly lunch meeting on Wednesday, 2026 April 22, at the Something Different Cafe. Kiwanis is grateful to Martha Wrenn for arranging our guest speaker, Deb Fasone, M.Ed., Executive Director, Transitioning Together.

Deb Fasone moved to Wilson from Colorado and desired to continue her passion to help special needs people feel and experience everyday social occurrences and happenings. Her organization creates inclusive, community-based experiences where adults with special needs build friendships, grow in confidence, and experience a true sense of belonging in our community.

Transitioning Together’s mission is to empower and support adults with special needs by providing inclusive events, programs, resources, and opportunities that promote independence, social engagement, and community integration. Student and adult volunteers are at the heart of creating truly inclusive spaces and activities where everyone feels seen, safe, and respected. Through connection and shared experiences, they build a stronger community, support well-being, and help individuals of all abilities thrive.

Kiwanis wants to encourage and wish success to Transitioning Together with their vision to create a world where adults with special needs are fully included and valued in all aspects of community life.

Anyone interested in Transitioning Together or desire to volunteer, please contact Deb Fasone at 252-220-2251, TransitioningTogether.us, and [email protected].

Thank you First In Families of North Carolina!

In This Together!

On May 6th, a few staff from First In Families of North Carolina had a chance to attend the 2026 Disability Advocacy Conference. Many self-advocates, family members, and community members gathered for a time of reflection and community-based discussions focused on ensuring everyone in North Carolina has the support, rights, and opportunities they deserve. We had a wonderful time at the conference, and we look forward to next year!
