State Senator Ceci Maher State Senator Ceci Maher represents Connecticut's 26th State Senate District. I’ve spent nearly all my life in Fairfield County. Let’s work together!

I grew up in Stamford, worked in New Canaan and Darien, volunteered in Westport, and raised my family first in Norwalk and later in Wilton, where I call home. In a lifetime of living in our community, I’ve met people from all walks of life – and I’ve seen that we share so much in common, no matter who we are and what city or town we live in. Our neighbors are fundamentally good and decent. We care about our families, our towns, and one another. We turn out to help in natural disasters and we show up to support our neighbors in times of need. In 20 years of leading nonprofits, volunteering, and holding local public office, I’ve had the chance to make an impact on some of the most important issues our communities face, from educational opportunity to access to food and housing. It’s been a tough few years for so many of us, from the pandemic to the economy to national politics. But I remain optimistic about our future because I know we can work together and make progress on our community’s most important issues. As State Senator for the 26th District, I will be a strong voice in Hartford with you as my partners.

Thankful to see the Community Investment Fund board approve $3 million today for the demolition of St. John Towers in Stamford, clearing the way for new affordable housing for families who need it. Grateful to Senate President Pro Tempore Marty Looney and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff for their partnership on this investment. This funding now heads to the Bond Commission for final approval.

Last night I joined a community conversation in Westport on the rise in ICE activity, the legal process, and the impact on families here in Connecticut. Hearing directly from legal experts, advocates, and neighbors about what people in our communities are experiencing and how to help was valuable information. I’m grateful to the Democratic Women of Westport for creating a space for that conversation. Every family in our district deserves to feel safe - thank you to all who participated for providing important resources and direction.

I recently had the honor of meeting with leaders from Ukraine Aid International, whose work is making a real difference for Ukrainian families living under siege. Connecticut is now a Sister State to Donetsk Oblast, and right here in our district, sister-town partnerships in Westport, Stamford, Darien, Weston, and Ridgefield are providing water systems, heating support, armored vehicles, mental health care, and camps for children growing up in wartime. It means so much to see our communities show up for people who need it most.

Yesterday, I joined many of our neighbors at Sherwood Island State Park for the 25th anniversary remembrance ceremony honoring the 162 Connecticut lives lost on September 11th. Sitting together as the names were read, surrounded by families who have carried this grief for twenty five years, is memorable and deeply felt. We remembered the victims, we honored the first responders who ran toward danger that day, and we were reminded that some losses stay with a community forever. We remember, and we carry it together.
