Re posted and beautifully written.....

To my 1st Responder Brothers and Sisters, Friends and Family please Read:

I have been unable to let out any information about this but it is finally at the point where I can share what is going on. Anyone who knows my family knows that PTSD has affected my family in a very hard way. I will not be going into details about what happened, because that isn't what this is about at all, but out of this situation. My Wife Liz has begun a corporation called Responders Retreat to help first responders (firefighters, police officers, EMS Dispatchers, ER Personnel, etc.) who have been affected by PTSD.

Liz is going to start a camp (Responders Retreat) where they can come to get away and breathe, gain understanding on how to get help for what they are going through, and hopefully walk away with a new (or renewed) outlook on life. This has been something she has been trying to do for a while. We will be looking for any donations and though we aren't able to accept any yet, we want to get this out there so you can think/pray about it and see if it is something you want to get involved with or if you know someone who would want to get involved with it. We will be getting more information to you within the next month here as we are finishing up some paperwork for non for profit status. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! This is something I believe God is using Liz to do. The way everything has transpired within the last couple of months is nothing short of His work. We appreciate everyone's support, prayers, and thoughts.

Boulder Junction Volunteer Fire Department receives donation to save pets from fire

BOULDER JUNCTION – First Responders with the Boulder Junction Volunteer Fire Department are now some of the best-equipped in the nation to save a pet’s life. That’s because Arbor Vitae-based Invisible Fence of Northern Wisconsin has donated four pet oxygen mask kits to the department.

This donation is just a small part of Invisible Fence® Brand’s Project Breathe™ program, which was established with the goal of equipping every fire station in America and Canada with pet oxygen masks. These masks allow firefighters and EMS staff to give oxygen to pets who are suffering from smoke inhalation when they are rescued from fires and often save pets’ lives.

Invisible Fence® Brand has donated a total of more than 12,400 pet oxygen masks to fire stations all over the U.S. and Canada throughout the life of the program. A reported 150-plus pets have been saved by the donated masks so far.

“When a family suffers the tragedy of a fire, lives are turned upside down,” said Ed Hoyt, Director of Invisible Fence® Brand. “Pets are valued family members, so we want families to know that their pet can be cared for if tragedy strikes. We realize that humans are the first priority, but in many cases, pets can be saved if firefighters have the right equipment. Project Breathe™ program is simply a way of giving firefighters the tools necessary to save pets’ lives.”

Boulder Junction is now joining the ranks of cities like Seattle, Chicago, Denver and Salt Lake City, who have all received donated pet oxygen masks from Project Breathe™ program.

"Thank God they had the masks,” said a pet owner whose dogs were recently rescued using donated masks. “They (the dogs) are just like family. I don’t know what I’d do without them. Things can be replaced. Lives can’t, whether they’re animals or people.”

Although the number of pets that die in fires is not an official statistic kept by the U.S. Fire Administration, industry web sites and sources have cited an estimated 40,000 to 150,000 pets die in fires each year, most succumbing to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders are unequipped to deal with the crisis. The loss is terrible for the family and heart-wrenching for firefighters.

The company has set up a website, www.invisiblefence.com/O2, where local fire personnel can make a request for their own departments.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan to headline Boulder Junction Public Library’s May 25th Neighbor to Neighbor Program

BOULDER JUNCTION – The Boulder Junction Volunteer Fire Department (BJVFD) will be the next guest of the Boulder Junction Public Library’s Neighbor to Neighbor Program Series on Thursday, May 25th at 7 p.m. at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street (County Hwy. M).

The Boulder Junction Volunteer Fire Department will be sharing information and materials about the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) program, a collaborative wildland fire hazard mitigation and education initiative involving the Town of Boulder Junction, the Boulder Volunteer Fire Department, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Vilas County Emergency Management and a variety of community stakeholders.

Scheduled keynote speakers for the CWPP presentation will include BJVFD firefighter Eric A. Johnson, fire prevention officer and public information officer; and Paul Stearns, a Wisconsin DNR forester-firefighter based out of the Boulder Junction-based Trout Lake Forestry Headquarters.

The risk of wildfire is real in Boulder Junction and Boulder Junction is taking steps to reduce those risks. The Town of Boulder Junction adopted a CWPP on April 26, 2016. A CWPP is a five-year planning document that identifies an entire town’s wildfire risk and provides recommendations for projects that protect citizens, homes and essential infrastructure from destructive wildfires.

This presentation is part of the Friends of the Boulder Junction Public Library’s free monthly Neighbor to Neighbor Program Series. All members of the public are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

For more information, call the Boulder Junction Public Library at 715-385-2050.
