Every day, people donate clothing, furniture, household items, and shop at the Peace Place Thrift Store without always realizing the impact those donations truly have. đź’ś

For many women and children fleeing domestic violence, arriving at our emergency shelter means arriving with almost nothing — sometimes just a suitcase, a few belongings, and the hope for a safer future.

That is where your donations and purchases begin to make a difference.

All proceeds from the Peace Place Thrift Store directly support our emergency domestic violence shelter program and the services that help survivors rebuild their lives. Your support helps provide not only safety, a warm bed, meals, clothing, and school supplies, but also legal advocacy, child and teen programs, teen dating violence prevention and support services, support groups, crisis services, community outreach, and compassionate support every step of the healing journey.

Your donations and purchases also help us continue serving survivors throughout our community who need advocacy, resources, education, and support beyond the shelter walls.

What may feel like a simple donation or small purchase can help a woman and her children begin again — and remind survivors throughout our community that they are not alone.

Your donation. Their new beginning.

SHOP. DONATE. EMPOWER.

: As we begin a new month, this quote is a reminder that growth isn't something we need to prove to anyone.

Too often, we focus on showing others our progress instead of giving ourselves the time, patience, and care needed to truly flourish. Growth happens when we nurture what matters, celebrate small victories, and allow ourselves room to bloom.

This week, focus on tending your own garden. 🌼

No matter where you are in your journey, healing and hope are possible—and support is always available.

💜 It’s More Than a Store 💜

When reaching out to us, sometimes people ask for their donations to go “to the shelter instead of the thrift store” because they don’t realize they're connected.

The truth is: our thrift store helps make the shelter possible!

All profits from donated items directly support our emergency shelter program for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Your donations become meals, safe shelter, advocacy, support services, and hope for survivors rebuilding their lives.

When you donate, shop, or share our store with others, you are helping change lives.

It’s more than a store — it’s part of the mission. 💜

đź’š Monday Motivation đź’š

Does your inner voice sound like this?

“I’m useless.”
“I’ll never be good enough.”
“I can’t do anything right.”
“I’ll never get through this.”

Negative self-talk can become so familiar that we stop noticing how deeply it affects us. This Mental Health Awareness Month, remember that your thoughts are not always telling you the truth.

You are not defined by your hardest days, your mistakes, or the pain you’ve experienced. Healing starts with learning to speak to yourself with patience, grace, and compassion.

This week, try replacing one harsh thought with one gentle reminder:

“I'm still growing.”
“I deserve kindness too.”
“I have made it through difficult days before.”

Healing often begins with these small moments — choosing grace over guilt and encouragement over doubt.

The way you talk to yourself matters more than you realize.

We were very grateful to receive these thoughtful Wish List donations from anonymous supporters đź’ś

Every item donated helps us better serve the families who walk through our doors, whether it’s creating welcoming spaces for children or providing practical everyday needs. Acts of generosity like this remind us that our community continues to stand beside domestic violence survivors in meaningful ways.

To everyone who supports our mission, thank you for helping us bring comfort, care, and encouragement to those who need it most.

Comfort can look like something as simple as a soft pillow, clean sheets, and knowing someone cared enough to give. đź’ś

We want to extend a very special thank you to The Parlor Bible Study Group from Maysville, Georgia, for their generous donation of pillows and bedsheets for our emergency domestic violence shelter. These items will help create a warm, restful, and welcoming space for survivors and their children during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Special recognition goes to Sherry Mitchell and Denise Craymer, whose leadership and compassion helped make this collection possible. The kindness and care poured into this effort will reach far beyond what can be seen.

Thank you for helping us provide not just shelter, but comfort, dignity, and a place that feels a little more like home.
