Millstone Wildlife Center Wildlife Rehabilitation and educational services, Frannie Greenberg, licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator In 2021, 974 mammals were admitted to MWC.

Millstone Wildlife Center is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. MWC does not receive federal or state funding and is completely a volunteer organization. All expenses come from individual and community donations and go directly to animal food, medication, and housing. We specialize in caring for injured and orphaned mammals at MWC. All species that we are not licensed to care for are referred to o

ther NH rehabilitators. Our goal is always to release these animals back into the wild. Mission Statement: The mission of Millstone Wildlife Center is to provide rehabilitation services for injured or orphaned wildlife in the state of New Hampshire. These services include:
- medical treatment, rehabilitation, and release of animals brought to the center.
- public education regarding coexistence with wildlife
- educational outreach programs for students of all ages

Here is our little porcupette practicing all the defensive moves—from the head tuck to the tail swing! One day, this baby will be ready to scare off predators and defend itself in the wild. For now, we’re enjoying this adorable display of growing confidence. Practicing makes perfect little one. 🐾❤️

Bobcat Fun Facts!
While these two young bobkittens relax together on their cat tree, here are a few fun facts about the wild cats of New Hampshire!

• Bobcats get their name from their short, “bobbed” tails. Their tails usually have a black tip on top and a white underside.

•Those adorable spotted coats help provide camouflage. As they grow, bobcats become masters at blending into their surroundings.

•Bobcats are excellent climbers! A cat tree may not be exactly like the forest, but climbing is definitely one of their natural talents.

•They have incredible hearing. Those pointed ears, complete with little tufts of fur, help them detect even the smallest sounds.

•Bobcats may look cute, but they are powerful wild predators. These youngsters are growing and developing the skills they will need to survive on their own.

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE 9 DAYS CAN MAKE!

When this young fox arrived at Millstone Wildlife Center, he was suffering from a severe case of mange. His coat was thin, his skin was irritated, and his eyes were crusted over.
These photos show his progress at intake, Day 5, Day 7, and Day 9. ❤️
What a difference!
He still needs time to heal but he is clearly on his way to recovery. We will continue his treatment and closely monitor his progress.
Seeing changes like these reminds us why we do what we do. 🐾

🐾VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT🐾
Meet Jen — lifelong animal lover, dedicated volunteer, and apparently someone who has been rescuing creatures from an early age! Jen’s dad used to joke that she would “let one mosquito out and five more in just to save it.” 😂 Clearly, her love of animals started early!
Growing up, Jen always knew she loved animals, but she never realized there were ways to work with them without going to veterinary school. She spent 40 years as a hairstylist and 35 years self-employed, building a career while never losing that love for animals.
Like so many of our volunteers, Jen discovered Millstone Wildlife Center after finding wildlife in need. After several trips to MWC with babies and injured animals—and plenty of Googling to figure out where to take them—she realized there was something special happening here.
When Jen was finally able to start working part-time, she knew exactly what she wanted to do with some of that newfound time: become a Millstone volunteer!
Jen lives in Derry with her significant other, Craig, her two dogs Kuma a Kai Ken and Sky (a rescue), and Yertle the turtle, who has been part of her life for an incredible 40 years!
We are so grateful for Jen’s hard work, compassion, humor, and willingness to jump in wherever she is needed. Her lifelong love of animals has found a pretty perfect home at Millstone Wildlife Center!

Meet Peanut

Peanut, named by the people who found her, arrived at Millstone Wildlife Center with a severe case of mange. She was one very lucky girl—her finders were able to safely contain her and bring her to MWC.
We have started treatment, but Peanut has a long road ahead. We hope you’ll follow along as we watch this beautiful fox heal and regain her strength.
We have a protocol for treating mange in foxes, but the first step is getting the animal safely contained. Medication is carefully dosed according to weight and administered over a period of time. It takes patience, monitoring, and commitment to get these animals back to health.
If you see a fox with mange in your neighborhood:
Please remember that capture is not easy—and can be dangerous for the fox.
• Foxes stress very easily and can suffer from capture myopathy, a potentially life-threatening condition caused by extreme exertion and stress.
• You will not outrun a fox. Even a severely debilitated fox can be surprisingly fast!
• Foxes are incredibly smart and are not likely to simply walk into a safe trap.
• If you are able to safely contain a fox in a garage, barn, or shed, please reach out to us for guidance. Don’t attempt to handle the fox yourself.
Peanut’s story is just beginning and we are hopeful for a success story.
