There are days when being a mom and a small business owner feels impossible, and today is one of those days.
After a lot of back and forth, I've made the difficult decision that Traceys Seafood won't be at Sullivan Daze today.
Yesterday threw us a curveball when rough weather kept many of our local fishermen off the water, leaving us waiting on lobster deliveries and scrambling to get caught up at the restaurant. Then our plans for staffing our booth fell through. Today, while the restaurant still needs me, my kids have been excited for Sullivan Daze, and this afternoon we're leaving to celebrate Carson's 13th birthday.
I hate disappointing people. We've been proud to be part of Sullivan Daze over the last several years, and supporting our hometown has always been important to us. Walking away from something we enjoy being part of wasn't an easy choice.
The truth is, sometimes no matter how hard you try, you simply can't be everything to everyone. Today I have to choose where I'm needed most, and I know years from now Carson won't remember whether we had a booth at Sullivan Daze—but he will remember celebrating his 13th birthday with his family.
I sincerely apologize to anyone who was hoping to see us at Sullivan Daze today. We hope everyone has an amazing time celebrating our community.
The restaurant is still open all day, and we'd love to see you there if you're looking for lunch or dinner.
Thank you for always supporting our family, our business, and understanding that sometimes life asks us to make difficult choices. We appreciate this community more than you know. ❤️

⚠️ Workplace distractions are more dangerous than most people realize and this time of year with summer on everyone's mind it is a good reminder to stay focused on the job! Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind:

📵 Put the phone away during work hours, even a quick glance at a notification can break your focus at a critical moment.

👀 Practice situational awareness and stay mindful of everything happening around you, not just what is directly in front of you.

🎧 Be mindful of headphones and background noise, missing an audio cue from a coworker or piece of equipment can lead to serious accidents.

🧠 If something outside of work is weighing heavily on your mind, speak up. A distracted worker is a safety risk and there is no shame in asking for support.

💬 If you notice a persistent distraction in your workplace, bring it up with your supervisor or at your next safety meeting. Stay safe out there! 💛
