The National Weather Service Forecast Office in La Crosse, WI will be conducting a required, scheduled upgrade to our computer systems from Monday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 21.

NOAA Weather Radio stations with broadcasts originating from our office will be off the air during this planned upgrade. During this planned NOAA Weather Radio outage, it is important to have multiple other ways to receive warning information. Alternate sources include local TV/radio stations, weather apps on a mobile device, and NWS La Crosse's website (weather.gov/lacrosse).

✅ The feed is fully back online. Just a heads up, because the towers are having issues there will still be audio quality problems at times. There is nothing we can do to control this part.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in La Crosse, WI
will be conducting a required, scheduled update to its Advanced
Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) system from Monday,
May 19 through Wednesday, May 21. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer
system to display and integrate weather and water information and
to send life-saving information, such as weather and water
warnings, to the public.

During this update, forecast and warning operations will be
conducted by our back-up NWS offices to minimize any potential
interruption to services. No impacts to our core forecast products
and weather watches, warnings, and advisories are expected during
this period. The KARX radar will remain operational, and its
products will continue to be distributed as normal. NWS La Crosse
will remain open and staffed throughout the update period to
conduct all other functions that can be completed without AWIPS,
including providing weather support to partners.

The software update will impact NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts
originating from NWS La Crosse for the following 10 transmitters
(www.weather.gov/nwr/wfo_list?WFO=ARX):

* Withee, WI: KZZ77 (162.425 MHz)
* Black River Falls, WI: WNG564 (162.500 MHz)
* Tomah, WI: KE2XKP (162.525 MHz)
* Richland Center, WI: WWG89 (162.475 MHz)
* Prairie du Chien, WI: WWG86 (162.500 MHz)
* Decorah, IA: KXI60 (162.525 MHz)
* St. Ansgar, IA: KXI68 (162.450 MHz)
* Rochester, MN: WXK41 (162.475 MHz)
* Winona, MN: KGG95 (162.425 MHz)
* La Crescent, MN: WXJ86 (162.550 MHz)

These transmitters will be off the air through the duration of the
software update and are expected to resume broadcasting sometime
on Wednesday, May 21. The weekly NOAA Weather Radio test,
normally conducted on Wednesdays, will be postponed to Thursday,
May 22 between 11 AM and noon, pending no hazardous weather.

During this planned NOAA Weather Radio outage, it is important to
have multiple ways to receive warning information. Alternate
sources may include: local TV/radio, weather apps on a mobile
device, and NWS La Crosses website: weather.gov/lacrosse.

*TOWER ISSUES RESOLVED*

The tower issue remains. We are taking steps as we have in the past to mitigate this on our own. You can hear some traffic right now but it's limited and poor quality.

We hope to have our own solution in place next week with a better antenna on our system to pick up different (further away and working) towers, unless the tower issue is fixed before then.

*TOWER ISSUES RESOLVED*

There appears to be a tower coverage issue that is out of our control. The feed itself is fine. When the issue is resolved the feed will broadcast as normal.
