Why do we skin doors during extrications?

šŸ­ Hemming in automotive manufacturing is a cold process that joins an inner and outer panel by folding the outer panel’s fl**ges over the inner panel, permanently clamping it in place. This method is used for doors, hoods, and decklids and can be performed with a traditional press or a robotically controlled roller.

A hem fl**ge can be built two different ways: mechanical hem only or hem with structural adhesive.
