Pupdate! 🐾
Since it’s still my calendar month, I thought I’d share my pupdate with you finally. I have chosen my path and have been living and thriving in my new life. 🥁 drum roll, please 🥁
I am proud to announce that I am the newest AMBASSADOR DOG for !! I’ll be living with my new puppy mom Kim in the VA area teaching new puppy Boots training classes as the demo dog and attending all the PR events where we have tables set up to recruit more puppy parents! I’ll be representing WCC at fairs, community events and other places and recruitment events throughout the region. I am so happy that I still get to work and put all my skills to the test every day because I love to work and I love to be around people. Most of all, I love being outside! This is a great path for me. I get to make so many new friends. While I wasn’t able to be matched with a veteran, I am in a position to use my handsome looks and strong skill set to show other people what’s possible when you raise a WCC puppy. I use my facial expressions to get people to sign up. It’s been a great success so far. People love my personality. I will be out here changing lives and recruiting more puppy raisers!!

More puptakes 🐾🌟from life with new PM. She took me to the gym! She said I lasted a whole hour and did many down-stays while she lifted things up and put them down. My old PM used to take me to the gym to practice for this. If my forever veteran ever takes me, I’ll be ready!! 🐾 🏋🏽‍♂️

Getting the job done, as always! New PM asked old PM about my excessive drooling. Old PM confirmed that, yes, I am an overactive drooler. Maybe I should put that in my resume. 💦

PM1 got an update from my new PM! Here’s what she sent:

“Good evening…I’m the PP that picked up Darin today. He is fitting in with my other dogs great. He is a beautiful dog. You did a great job with him. He seems to know a lot so far but still trying to get to know him. Would love to know if there are any tricks or things he likes doesn’t like. What works for him? Quirky things about him? Talk to you soon.”

My new PM is so cool. We watched Law Abiding Citizen on TV last night. PM1 approves of her great film choice for me. Maybe next time we can watch Beethoven! In the meantime, PM1 is giving her all the Darin inside knowledge, my likes and dislikes. My only dislike is kissing. Marg always did that for me.

I love training! And I love people and new friends! I’m having the time of my life!

Fell asleep looking into PM’s eyes in my last night on her bed. We are both ready for my next step. She loved me enough for me to be confident in almost any situation! We will report back with any pupdates she gets about me as I continue my journey. 🐾🐾❤️

PUPDATE!!! I’m home for the weekend with PM for the last time. This is our official “big goodbye” before I move onto the next leg of my training. Everyone has been asking PM a lot of questions about me. So here is the Pupdate!…

🐾Where I’ve been🐾➡️
For the last two weeks, I’ve been “IFT” which means “in for training” at the HQ kennel. They were working on three main challenges for me: dog distraction, kennel behavior and house manners. My trainers said I made a ton of progress on all of these things!! They said they felt I made major progress on 2.5 out of 3 of the things. I just need to polish up my house manners (things like not stealing a sandwich on the coffee table and not being opportunistic if I see a chip bag laying about). I mean, honestly, if you saw a bag of Cheetos laying out someone forgot to finish, would you not eat them??? Anyway…I’m working on that.

🐾Where I’m going!! 🐾➡️
I’m going to work on my house manners with another puppy parent who specializes in house manners! I’ll be with her for two months to have a real shot at finishing my progress in this area. From here, if I’ve done my job well, I’ll be moving on to advanced training which is our version of college for service dogs in training.
