Ekki á leiðinni í Super Bowl í boði Mahomes

The Icelandic Association usually doesn't take sides in the Super Bowl (or "Ofurskálin," as they call it in Iceland.). But maybe we'll make an exception this time, and root for Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs. After being drafted by the Chiefs in the spring of 2017, the young quarterback spent part of that summer in Mosfellsbær, right outside Reykjavik. He was there to cheer on his girlfriend, now wife, Brittany Matthews, who was playing professional soccer for Afturelding/Fram. Matthews was staying in the apartment of a local couple, and this news story in the Icelandic Frettabladid describes how the budding superstar quarterback slept on the couch in the living room (he's a big guy and didn't fit anywhere else). Mahomes was often studying plays from the massive binder he was given by the Chiefs, and sometimes the hosts lent their visitors their car so they could go out to eat. Go Chiefs! And Afturelding!

Patrick Mahomes, leikstjórnandi Kansas City Chiefs í NFL-deildinni, birtist í dyragættinni hjá Sigurbjarti Sigurjónssyni og frú árið 2017 og gisti hjá honum í átta daga. Kærasta Mahomes spilaði þá með Aftureldingu það sumarið og bjó hjá þeim.

I just wanted to say that I have just finished "Fish Have No Feet" by Jón Kalman Stefánsson. It was a stunning book and amongst other things it introduced me to the 70s Icelandic band Brimkló. I now cannot get their song "Ég mun aldrei gleyma þér´out of my head! It's also helped my very preliminary attempts to know more of the Icelandic language.
Thanks for inviting me to like your page. I have always been fascinated by your country. Would love to establish a way our firm could be of service to you all and DIVERSIFY business!
