When nonpartisan elections are only pushed by one party, it makes you wonder why they don’t want voters to see the ‘R’ next to their names.

A bill that would make many local elections in Cobb County nonpartisan passed the Georgia Senate Wednesday.

House Bill 369, which would end partisan elections for the Cobb Board of Education, Cobb Board of Commissioners, district attorney and several other local offices, passed by substitute in the Senate Wednesday in a 32-21 vote. The bill now heads back to the House for a final up or down vote.

I had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day with the East Cobb Democrats last week, with some other fantastic guest speakers. I’ll take any chance I can to speak to voters and hear about the solutions they want to see in Georgia!

No Kings is Downtown Woodstock is more than a protest. It’s also a rally for people power. 📣

Starting at 2:30 PM at the gazebo in The Park at City Center, we will hear from guest speakers who believe in democracy, community, and the power of showing up. These speakers are joining us to help energize the crowd, speak to what is at stake, and remind us that our voices matter at the ballot box and beyond.

Join us from 1 PM to 3 PM in downtown Woodstock, Georgia. Come protest. Come rally. Come stand with people who are ready to reject authoritarianism and fight for a future shaped by the people.

I’m so grateful for the amazing local candidates who joined me and spoke about the future we’re building together. When people who care about their community step up to run, it reminds you that democracy is strongest at the local level.
