Summer Safety Reminder from NJFD

Did you know? A garden hose left out in the sun can heat up quickly—reaching temperatures over 130°F in just minutes. That’s hot enough to cause serious burns, especially to children and pets.

Before spraying yourself, your kids, or pets—run the water for a few seconds to flush out any scalding hot water trapped in the hose.

Store hoses in shaded areas when possible.

We care about your safety — inside and out. Stay cool, stay safe!

There will be a Mock Crash Accident Drill this morning at Greeneview High School on Cottonville Rd. There will be a simulated response withe fire, police, EMS, with a helicopter landing on site.

A mock crash is a realistic training and educational demonstration designed to show students the real‑world consequences of unsafe driving, especially distracted driving, speeding, and impaired driving. Using staged vehicles, live extrication, and role‑players, students witnessed firsthand how first responders handle serious motor vehicle crashes—from scene size‑up to patient care and rescue.
The goal isn’t to scare anyone, but to educate and raise awareness. Seeing the sights, hearing the sounds, and understanding the impact can help young drivers make smarter, safer choices behind the wheel.
We’re proud to work together as a community to help keep our teens—and everyone on the road—safe. A big thank you to all the agencies, students, and staff who helped make this important event possible.
