It was a beautiful ‘Spring Luncheon’ today at our beloved Harman Center. Miss Sheila Phelps and the volunteers did an amazing job!

At the beginning of my campaign, this gentleman, Donald Hinman and I met and quickly became friends through our shared belief that Yakima deserves innovative ideas, practical solutions, and leadership that truly cares about the people who live here.

Don’s too humble to share the extraordinary work he’s done for our city, but he has been an essential factor in Yakima’s growth over the years. He has spent decades serving our community — as a former Yakima City Council member, founder of Mid-Valley Insurance, and a driving force & co-founder behind Yakima Neighborhood Health Services. His lifelong commitment to public service, housing, healthcare, and helping others has left a lasting impact on the Yakima Valley, and me.

I am so grateful for the people who have supported me, and I have since become friends with. Grateful for the conversations, the wisdom, and the shared vision for a stronger Yakima. We can turn Yakima around guys. It’s all about smart, strong leadership. Have a great Saturday!

Happy Friday Everyone! Not the best news to share, but important. After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided to withdraw from my run for the House of Representatives D15 seat.

This was not an easy decision. It comes down to timing and the needs of my family, along with practical realities that I take seriously as someone who is fiscally conservative and believes in responsible decision-making—both in public service and in my personal life.

I remain deeply committed to our community and the values that inspired me to run in the first place. My determination, grit, and integrity haven’t changed, and this is not the end of my involvement. It’s simply a pause at the right time.

I truly want to thank everyone who has supported, encouraged, and believed in me along the way. I’m grateful—and I look forward to what’s ahead. Stay tuned, and have a great weekend!

Happy Saturday Everyone! I’ve spent this beautiful morning with the Grandview Rotary and my dear friend Joan Souders for our ‘Community Day of Service’ today.

It’s amazing how little it takes to help with many hands helping. Happy to support and help all of our communities throughout our Yakima county. It’s important, and I love giving back and showing care. Hey, what’s better than a hard day’s work right?

Happy Friday Everyone!

I want to focus on our Yakima City Council for a moment. I am asking that someone please consider stepping up and running for the Yakima City Council seats that are up for grabs next year.

The current city council is all talk and no action. Let’s call it for what it is-this “group think” concept has failed us. It will continue to fail us. These are facts based on the history of the council for the last 4 years. If we don’t get new leaders in there next year, I fear that they are going to get us to a point of no return. We should not, and cannot let that happen to our city. The right city leadership is important, and it’s got me thinking.

This is the city I grew up in, and the city I call home. I want it nice. I know you want it nice too and would like to see it thrive. Think about it. I sure am thinking about it. Have a lovely weekend!

*Update: the utilities tax that the failed leadership of our city council is proposing is annual. It wasn’t a math issue, had to re-read. Big difference. So they are STILL taxing us. They said no taxes-and they’re still taxing us. Another concern, they’re dipping into our reserve. New taxes, robbing Peter to pay Paul, and begging community members for money to save us-All that equals failed leadership no matter how you dice it. Go bring in revenue so we can save everything. Go actually work for us.

Happy Sunday everyone! I mentioned I would still stay active regarding our city of Yakima, as the decisions made by these brilliant business wonders affect us all.

I’ve been quiet about the fact we’ll have no bathrooms in our parks (genius planning), and the 1% tax that snuck by in December, but I have to mention the recent Yakima City Council’s consideration of a utility tax increase.

Ok, ok hmmm. For the first time I think I’m speechless. This utility tax will cost us more monthly ($36) than that of the recent Prop 1 Levy that failed (~$20). You realize this right? Not only will it cost us more monthly, it’s only salvaging 1 item-Fire Station 92. Paying more…getting less. Bravo, brilliant leadership for us.

That levy would have covered ALL of it. Station 92, Harmon, Washington Fruit, our pools, parks. To all those Brownies that wrote letters to the Herald about “Amy only wants taxes on us,” when all Amy wanted was to make our city money with NO taxes to us, just in order to save it all-for us….well, I’ll take that apology warm with a dash a spice. 😉

Thank you Douglas Alan White for the opportunity to attend the Rural Americans United billboard campaign project this morning in Sunnyside!

Our Yakima county voter turn out is abysmal. We need more people to turn out and vote. This project is focused on getting nonpartisan messages on billboards throughout our rural communities and doing just that-encouraging people to vote. Great morning, great ideas, and great company-thank you again, and I’m happy I attended.

What a pleasure it was to hear from and meet our Washington State Office of Equity Director Megan Matthews at our Grandview Rotary yesterday. She recognizes and acknowledges the varying differences between the Westside of the state and our Eastside. I was happy to hear that she wants to focus more on our rural communities, and bring more attention and opportunities via the State level. That’s my goal as State House Rep D15 too. We need our rural communities to thrive, and I want to be the one to help them. I’ll always look out for us here-I’m an Eastside girl!

I hope everyone enjoyed their beautiful, Easter Sunday today!

This picture was taken at Easter in 1975 at Fort Rucker Alabama with my three older sisters. This is where most Army helicopter pilots trained, and my Dad was an officer, and pilot. I grew up in a military family. Roots deep with integrity, patriotism, and American values. You can say I’m old school when it comes to practicality and common sense leadership.

My Dad enlisted, and was with the Army for almost 40 years. That means he ran towards the fight, and never cowering. I am my Dad’s daughter, and I run towards the fight too, never cowering. I’ll fight for you. They say the baby is the boldest, and I agree with that. Looking forward to this run for the House of Representatives D15, and your support. We are more alike than we are different. Please vote for the person, me. 😊

What a wonderful evening spent with community members and friends. We need to come together and understand each other better, especially during trying times. Otherwise, we all just spin our wheels with no real solutions to anything. Thank you to the woman I’ve always respected, and can now call my friend, Dr. Yesenia Navarrete Hunter for bringing us together in faith, love, and music. Quetzal Flores and the band Quetzal was a great experience. Please try and catch them!

Thank you for inviting me to our Harmon Center for the St. Paddy’s luncheon today Miss Sheila! I am always happy to support as this is one of the true gems in Yakima.

Our city still needs to focus on assisting with a financial strategic plan and actually go sit and talk with the members there. Have lunch, and support them! Our beloved Washington Fruit for our youth stills needs attention too. I can assure you that I am still and will continue to fight for these amazing facilities. Ya’ll can join me! 😉
