Dental hygiene samples are always fun to receive!

Thank you Tonochi for sending me these samples to try! I received their Max toothbrushes and SlimWeave Floss, designed for those tight spaces between teeth.

As a dental hygienist, I’m always interested in discovering new oral-care products that may help make daily home care easier and more effective for my patients. I’m looking forward to trying these out and seeing what I think!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Silverado Memory Care in Brea and provide an in-service training for their wonderful staff on the importance of oral care for residents living with dementia.

Good oral health is about so much more than a clean smile. For individuals with dementia, consistent daily oral care can help prevent pain, infection, difficulty eating, and other health complications.

I loved sharing practical tips and techniques to help caregivers make oral care safer, easier, and more comfortable for their residents. A big thank you to the Silverado team for taking the time to learn and for their dedication to providing compassionate care.

I’m excited to continue working together to improve the oral health and quality of life of their residents!

I’m always interested in products that can help improve oral health—especially for patients who may need a little extra support.

I recently learned more about SuperMouth hydroxyapatite products and the science behind nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HA). Hydroxyapatite is a mineral naturally found in our teeth, and it’s used in oral care products to help support enamel and reduce sensitivity.

As an RDHAP, I love continuing to learn about new products and options that may benefit the patients I serve, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with special healthcare needs.

Prevention is always the goal!

Desensitizing visits

Helping patients with autism succeed in dental care often starts long before the actual treatment.

One of the most valuable tools I use is desensitization visits. These appointments are focused on building trust and not rushing treatment.

We take small steps, become familiar with the environment, introduce equipment at the patient's pace, and celebrate every success along the way.

For many individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, and changes in routine can make dental visits overwhelming. By providing onsite patient-centered, compassionate care, we can create positive experiences that make future visits easier and more successful.

At Special Access Dental, I believe every patient deserves the opportunity to receive quality oral healthcare in a way that respects their unique needs. Progress may come one small step at a time, but every step is meaningful.
