Today I passed a goose family on the side of the road. The other side of the road leads to a lake.

As I realized they were in danger, I turned around thinking maybe to call the township, would they help?

So, I turned around again, approached the shoulder next to them and stopped. Luckily no cars were coming & the parents instantly went to the median & encouraged all the kids to cross.

I saw all 7 goslings make it to the grass by the time cars were headed towards us.

Nature is wild, y'all.

Favorite part of owning chickens (and something to look forward to!) was creating a palette of gorgeous colors.

The blues, the greens, the browns, the whites, the pinks, the spots, the blooms, the sizes...so much possibility!

Fun reminiscing about our little plot of land here in Pennsylvania.

We discovered fairy eggs were a thing.

This is a duck egg, chicken egg, and a fairy (chicken) egg.

Everyday was adventurous and educational.

Oh, hi!

Things have been a little busy over here at Tejas Farm.

We're actually packing up and heading back to Texas. So the friendly little farm in Pennsylvania will now be in new hands and we'll be figuring out our next steps down in the Piney Woods.

With that in mind, I've updated the site with a few new facial bars, serums, body butters, and the good ol Piney Woods soap.

So enjoy it while ya can!

The Toms of Tejas Farm, well the Jakes and Jennies.

Juvenile males are called jakes. Adult male turkeys are called toms. Adult female turkeys are called hens. Juvenile females are called jennies.

Just over here saving the monarchs with some Milkweed.

Also, did you know:
All parts of the plant contain toxic cardiac glycosides, which can cause nausea, diarrhea, weakness, and confusion in small amounts, and seizures, heart rhythm changes, respiratory paralysis, and even death in large amounts. Milkweed can also irritate the skin and eyes if touched.

Nature is bizarre - here's a plant that is the only food source to a certain butterfly, but it is poisonous to dogs, cats, humans, whatever.

Turkey baby time.

We have 7 lil turkeys now.

The local farm where the eggs came from had all different breeds, so this will be fun game to see their coloring.

Sadly, none are Eastern Wild, so they won't look like Ol Turkey Barley.

But I imagine they'll have their own wild personalities.

Collecting eggs in the rain.

Growing up, I always thought brown eggs were the 'best'.

I had no idea eggs could be green and blue and olive and speckled and dark and light.

FYI: The best eggs come from happy chickens. $1.99 a dozen? That's some miserable ass chickens living in a factory farm with no sun and no digging for bugs.

Also, all our chickens eat the exact same whole grain food and get scraps & forage. They all have different colored yolks, so that also doesn't mean a lot.

Just passing on my learned chicken wisdom. 🐔

Everybody likes a warm cup of coffee when it's cold, right?

What about a soapy twist? 😂

Coffee soaps!

Cafe Con Leche has a delightful aroma of cocoa butter.

Peppermint Mocha is similar but with a kick of peppermint essential oil to perk you up, skinwise anyway.

The milky aspect of both soaps comes from goat's milk from a local farm.

There are a few of each left at the moment over at Tejasfarm.com.

Along with lip balms and luffa bars, Wash Your Hair Bars, all kinds of stuff to get you through winter woes!
