Thank you Youngsville Police Department and Youngsville Fire Department for working throughout the night during #HurricaneDelta. Appreciate of both departments under the leadership of Chiefs Rickey Boudreaux and Blair Rivette! A lot of wind related damage: fencing, shingles, trees. Please have patience with our power companies as they have a lot to do and our city workers as roads are being cleared. Roadside storm pickup info will be forthcoming. Prayers to all those less fortunate. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Rickey Boudreaux Chief of Police Youngsville, La.

Curfew begins at 4pm Friday afternoon. Message from Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux:

With the approaching storm here are few things to consider, once winds begin to get above 50 mph police units will begin to seek shelter to avoid flying debris. Please please no unnecessary travel during and immediately after the event!!! We need time to make sure the roadways are safe and passable. NO SIGHTSEEING!!!! This only hampers our work and safety as we try to get roadways open. Please donโ€™t endanger yourself by getting out during the storm because if you need help then you will be endangering our lives also as we will respond to calls for help. Thatโ€™s even if we are able to respond. Be safe and stay home.

President Trump signed into law the National POW/MIA Flag Act requiring the POW/MIA flag be displayed below the U.S. Flag at all federal sites around the country.

In response I have directed that all city buildings fly the POW/MIA flag in remembrance of those that gave their all. Today this flag was raised for the first time by Broussard-Larriviere-Trahan VFW Post 9210 Youngsville, La Quartermaster Phil Gallet.

At present, more than 81,900 Americans remain missing from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars/other conflicts. Out of the more than 81,900 missing, 75% of the losses are located in the Indo-Pacific, and over 41,000 of the missing are presumed lost at sea (i.e. ship losses, known aircraft water losses, etc.). As of July 15th, 2020, there are still 24 MIA from Louisiana.

Halloween is around the corner! ๐ŸŽƒYoungsville will observe trick or treating 10/31 from 6p-8pm. Lafayette Parish Mayors offer the following safety tips for Halloween and encourage everyone to adopt safe practices in light of the risks from COVID-19:

๐Ÿ‘ปDonโ€™t wear gloves when handing out candy.

๐Ÿ‘ปOffer pre-wrapped goody bags or sanitize hands in between house visits.

๐Ÿ‘ปDo not participate in Halloween festivities if you are feeling ill.

๐Ÿ‘ปOnly Trick-or-Treat with members of your household and within your own neighborhood, if possible.

๐Ÿ‘ปHalloween masks are not a substitute for real masks. Please ensure that proper face coverings are worn while out in public.

๐Ÿ‘ปAvoid activities in which germs can spread easily such as bobbing for apples or close-quartered haunted houses.

๐Ÿ‘ปConsider alternatives to Trick or Treating such as CDCโ€™s Zombie Survival Scavenger Hunt or Drive-Thru Trick or Treating

๐Ÿ‘ปFor more information on Halloween Safety visit CDC Halloween Guidance at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-noob/daily-life-coping/holidays.html#halloween

About Ken

Ken Ritter is proud to serve Youngsville as Mayor! He began his term on January 1, 2015 and his leadership has effectively guided the city through growth & prosperity as well as periods of challenge and adversity. Upon taking office he moved quickly to create and implement the cityโ€™s first ever Master Plan to serve as a roadmap for our cityโ€™s future. Concerned about the manner in which Youngsville was growing it was imperative to improve planning, implement systems, establish processes, evaluate infrastructure, and modernize software. Under Mayor Ritterโ€™s leadership development processes are streamlined, city services are more accessible, recreational opportunities have been expanded, the Youngsville Police Department has doubled in size, & the Youngsville Fire Department staffing model was increased to be the first department in Lafayette Parish, outside of the City of Lafayette, to have 24/7 paid fire staffing. In addition, his administration oversaw the completion and opening of the Youngsville Recreation Center, and the creation of the Youngsville Recreational Sports Programs. During the Mayorโ€™s term millions in infrastructure improvements including water, sewer, & roads have been completed.

In the face of adversity after a historic flood event in August 2016 Mayor Ritterโ€™s administration navigated bureaucracy and had FEMA reimbursable storm debris pick-up commence within one week from the tragic event. In addition, the cityโ€™s first ever Public Works Director was recruited and hired to establish a proactive drainage maintenance plan. Working on a 7 day a week schedule with rented equipment and newly hired help Youngsville Public Works removed sediment from Lafayette Parish drainage channels in order to restore them to their original grade. Within months, development standards were raised, drainage maintenance was improved, & work on regional drainage solutions were accelerated.

Before his term as Mayor, Ken was elected to the Youngsville City Council in 2010 and served from 2011-2014. On the City Council he was a leading voice of progress and compromise. Ken was instrumental in the creation of the city's comprehensive land use ordinance and the city's increased infrastructure requirements for new roads in privately developed subdivisions.

Prior to his service on the city council Ken was a board member and President of Copper Meadows Homeowners' Association where he helped to make one of Youngsville's newest neighborhoods one of the best in our community.

Ken is the owner of three Anytime Fitness franchises in Acadiana after ending a successful career in hotel management. He has a Bachelor's degree from Colorado Technical University in business administration and was a 2013 recipient of the Daily Advertiser's Top 20 Under 40 leadership awards.

Hey mayor. What's up with the $15 to $25 increase in utilities on everyone's bill and water? And the water is so chlorinated it leaves behind white residue when evaporated off a non pourous surface. With fuel costs at a low right now and everyone who has been financially impacted by the corona virus don't you think we should at least be seeing a discount. The trash trucks right now can drive twice as far on the same cost of fuel as 10 months ago yet our cost is going up. Something isn't right here. I took a shower the other night and I gaurantee there was more chlorine in my faucet water then in my parents pool! The picture attached shows the residue I'm talking about. This started about the same time 3-4 months ago that I started smelling strong chlorine in the bags of ice I always would buy at sonic. Before that it would dry with no residue. This is sad.
may ALLAH bless u all
Any chance the construction companies can pitch in and help make sure bike lanes on Chemin Metairie are cleaned up some from all their work. Very large rocks and mud make bikers have to go into the road at those points.
