Greetings Fellow Retirees! Please Share with everyone you know who may need this information.

It is time for the Fall 2026 LEOSA Qualification at the OKC Gun Club. It will take place on Wednesday October 14th, 2026 at 0900. We run 10 or so at a time and will add more relays as needed.

I DO NOT CHARGE FOR THIS DEAL! My payment is seeing all you old people every six months!

The Gun Club is located north of Arcadia. Here is the address:

We will conduct our qualifications at the Pistol Range. The Pistol Range is located directly north of the main Club House. When you enter the main entrance, you will turn left and follow the gravel road.

The qualification course is 25 rounds. You might bring 50 rounds in case you need to have a second attempt. Please bring eye and ear protection! Please have some type of holster to secure your fi***rm as you move between stages of fire. All stages of fire will begin at the “Ready Gun” position, so no need to draw from a holster. Time will be given between stages of fire to make sure you have the required number of rounds for the next stage.

Please note this is not a “Security Guard” or “Active Officer” Qualification. This is the “Retired Officer” Qualification. Upon successful qualification you will be given a card showing you have met the standards for LEOSA.

Retirees will need to provide “Retired Law Enforcement” credentials. For those of you who I actually worked with, and for the few that trained/reprimanded me during my career, I will stipulate to your credentials!

Thoughts on the best equipment I used over my career.. Maybe it can be of use to someone just starting out or thinking of making a big purchase on a piece of equipment that may be vital to their job.

What I Would Go Back and Tell Myself as a New Law Enforcement Officer …

Slow down. You don’t have to prove how tough you are every day.

Listen more than you talk. The older Officers may not always say it the right way, but many of them are trying to teach you lessons they learned the hard way.

Treat people with respect—even when they don’t return it. Your authority comes from the badge, but your influence comes from how you carry yourself.

Don’t confuse activity with effectiveness. You don’t have to write the most tickets or make the most arrests to be a good Officer. Do your job, use good judgment, and make your actions matter.

Your reputation is being built with every traffic stop, report, arrest, and interaction. Protect it. Once damaged, it is hard to repair.

Stay humble. The uniform does not make you better than anyone else, and rank does not automatically make someone a leader.

Take care of your family. The job will take every holiday, weekend, and hour you are willing to give it—and it will replace you when you leave.

Save money early. Invest consistently. One day, the freedom to walk away will be worth more than another promotion.

Take care of your body and your mind. The things you see and experience do not simply disappear because you refuse to talk about them.

Choose your battles. Not every insult requires a response, not every mistake requires punishment, and not every disagreement is worth carrying home.

Most importantly, enjoy the journey. One day, you will put on that uniform for the last time—and you will wonder how the years went by so quickly.

Be firm. Be fair. Stay humble. And never forget why you started.
