The City of Zebulon would like to clarify some information regarding the recent article about the residential subdivision presentation made to the City Council.
The presentation was simply a presentation. The developers requested an opportunity to come before the Council and provide information about their company, what they do, and the type of development they are considering.
At this time, no further action regarding this presentation is scheduled for any upcoming City Council meeting, and no approval or decision has been made by the City regarding the proposed development.
The City of Zebulon is committed to serving our citizens to the best of our ability and to making decisions that are in the best interest of our community. We understand that growth and development are important topics to our residents, and we believe it is important to provide accurate information and transparency throughout the process.
The City is also currently in discussions with Pike County regarding impact fees, LOST (Local Option Sales Tax), and other matters related to growth and development. That meeting has been postponed by the County at this time and will be rescheduled when appropriate.
Currently, developers within the City of Zebulon pay capital recovery fees for development within the City. These fees help the City recover costs associated with the utility infrastructure necessary to serve new development.
We appreciate the questions, comments, and concerns from our citizens. The City will continue to keep the community informed as discussions and decisions regarding growth and development move forward.
Our commitment remains the same: to serve the citizens of Zebulon and protect the future of our community.
