On behalf of the Republican Ambulance Center under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor D**g Min Shin, Head of the ODA Project Team of the Department of Paramedicine at Korea National University of Transportation, for the official invitation and warm hospitality extended during our visit to the Republic of Korea.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Korean Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system and its education and training framework. During our visit from June 20 to June 23, 2026, we attended the International Fire & Safety Expo and had the opportunity to observe and better understand key components of the Korean Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system, including cardiac arrest response, triage, patient assessment, the Medical Direction System, and quality assurance and quality improvement (QA/QI) processes.
We also held productive discussions with the Korea National University of Transportation regarding the future career development of graduates from the Department of Paramedicine at Andijan State Medical Institute (ASMI). Through these discussions, we explored employment opportunities for ASMI Paramedicine graduates within regional ambulance centers and emergency medical institutions beginning in 2026. Furthermore, we confirmed that outstanding graduates who meet the required qualifications and competency standards may also have opportunities for employment in the Republic of Korea, providing valuable prospects for international professional development.
In addition, both institutions agreed to strengthen cooperation in a variety of areas, including joint research, curriculum development, faculty and student exchange programs, and international development cooperation projects. We also reached a mutual understanding regarding the need to establish a Department of Paramedicine in Tashkent to further support the development of the national emergency medical workforce.
This visit represents an important milestone in advancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea in the field of emergency medical services. The Korean EMS model offers valuable experience and best practices that can contribute significantly to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s emergency healthcare system. We look forward to further expanding our partnership through human resource development, technology exchange, collaborative research, and future ODA initiatives.
