The Ministry of Social Welfare and Community Empowerment, Ecclesiastical Affairs and National Heritage, in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), today commenced a three-day working session aimed at strengthening the Ministry’s emergency preparedness and response systems.

The workshop brings together staff from across the Ministry to enhance operational readiness, strengthen coordination, and build a shared understanding of how we prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. Through this collaborative effort, we continue to strengthen our capacity to better serve the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines before, during and after emergencies.

The Ministry gratefully acknowledges the Government of Canada for its support in making this initiative possible and for its continued partnership in strengthening social protection and emergency preparedness in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Ministry of Social Welfare extends heartfelt condolences on the passing of Kingsley "Inch" Jack, a longstanding client and beneficiary of the Public Assistance Programme.

In keeping with our mandate to support financially vulnerable households during times of bereavement, the Ministry assumed responsibility for coordinating his burial.

While funeral grants are typically provided to assist eligible families, in this instance the entire process was coordinated by the staff of the Social Protection Division, ensuring that Mr. Jack received a dignified farewell.

The service was led by the staff of the Social Protection Division and officiated by the Kingstown Methodist Church.

May God grant comfort and strength to all who grieve his passing, and may he rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🙏🏾
