The Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs officially opened its Virgin Gorda Satellite Office on Thursday, 30 July 2026, marking the launch of the Sister Island Outreach Programme to bring key business and consumer services closer to residents of Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van D**e.

The new office is intended to reduce the administrative weight associated with travelling to Tortola. Services will include the processing and issuance of trade licences, support through the National Business Bureau and assistance with consumer affairs matters.

The Department of Immigration has formally welcomed 102 persons as Belongers of the Virgin Islands following the Belonger Status Award Ceremony held on Thursday, 16th July at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The recipients included 80 persons granted Belonger status under Section 16(3) and 22 persons under Section 16(6) of the Immigration and Passport Act. During the ceremony, the recipients recited the Territorial Pledge and received their certificates from Premier of the Virgin Islands, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley.

The Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs recently welcomed entrepreneurs and prospective business owners to tour the first completed building at the Virgin Islands’ first Entrepreneurial Zone in Huntums Ghut.

The building is the first of two being developed at the site and will serve as an incubator for start-ups and emerging businesses. The initiative will provide entrepreneurs with affordable commercial space and other business development support as they work towards becoming independent and sustainable enterprises.

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development is advising stakeholders that due to technical difficulties affecting the Labour Management System (LMS), users’ ability to access the system may be affected.

Users who are able to access the LMS are strongly advised not to make any online payments until further notice.
