Samuel Carrion

Samuel Carrion Senator in the Virgin Islands representing St. Croix.

Unfortunately, yesterday's HUD announcement was not unexpected. There have been severe compliance and administrative failures at our Housing Finance Authority. We need only look around to see that the Virgin Islands has not made significant progress in recovering from the 2017 hurricanes. These funds are frozen, not gone, but we must immediately fix the internal systems that caused this crisis and remove those responsible. As your senator, I will demand strict legislative oversight to rebuild federal trust, and work directly with our new Delegate to Congress and Governor to ensure future administrative bottlenecks are eliminated. I will continue to hold those responsible accountable, correct these broken systems, and protect recovery dollars.

Today, St. Croix officially welcomes Club Med to our shores, and I truly hope this will benefit everyone on the big island.
During my service in the previous administration, we were often told by industry leaders that attracting a branded hotel to St. Croix would help increase air service to the island. More flights mean greater convenience and more affordable travel for residents and visitors alike.
As this project moves forward, I encourage Club Med to respect the environmental and historic significance of Davis Bay. Virgin Islanders must be hired to help renovate this resort and provided the training and opportunities to manage it in the years ahead.
I wish Club Med every success!

***TSUNAMI ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR USVI***

A tsunami advisory is in effect for the US Virgin Islands. The earliest estimated time of arrival for fluctuations and strong ocean currents may begin at 7:19 PM Wednesday June 24, 2026. Persons in or around the ocean should move out of the water....off the beach and away from harbors, marinas, bays and inlets. Do not go to shore observe the tsunami. VITEMA is monitoring the situation closely.

As a father and a Virgin Islander, my heart breaks over this senseless loss of young life. May God bring comfort to Tre'Vante's family, friends, and the community during this deeply painful time. I stand firmly with his mother's plea and pray that anyone with information regarding this tragic shooting finds the courage to come forward. Please, let's help bring justice and a small sense of peace to his grieving loved ones and continue to lift his family and our community in prayer 🙏🏽.
