MORE THAN PASSING A LAW—MAKING SURE IT WORKS. 🇻🇮

Passing legislation is only the beginning. Real leadership means following through to make sure the laws we enact actually protect the people they were designed to serve.

Through Act No. 8798, we strengthened the Virgin Islands’ Safe Haven protections for newborns. But I knew putting a law on the books was not enough. That is why I helped organize territory-wide Safe Haven training for first responders, bringing attention to the protocols and procedures needed when a newborn is safely surrendered.

Our police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, healthcare professionals, and other frontline responders must be prepared to act with compassion, confidence, and consistency when a parent and newborn need them most.

Protecting newborns. Supporting parents. Preparing first responders.

That is what follow-through looks like—and that is the standard of leadership I will continue bringing to the Virgin Islands.

RESULTS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES. RESULTS FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS. 🇻🇮

For years, Virgin Islands automotive repair shops faced barriers accessing Techline Connect, putting our local technicians at a disadvantage and making some vehicle repairs more difficult and costly.

I refused to accept that as the status quo.

Through persistent advocacy, my office helped get direct Techline Connect access restored—without requiring a VPN—giving Virgin Islands repair professionals the same opportunity to use critical diagnostic and programming tools.

That means faster local repairs, lower costs, stronger small businesses, and greater economic opportunity right here at home.

This is the kind of representation I believe in: when our businesses encounter unnecessary barriers, we get involved, we stay engaged, and we work until we get results.

I sounded the alarm early—and I will keep fighting to protect the Virgin Islands. 🇻🇮

In 2023, I called for unified federal action to defend the Virgin Islands’ rum cover-over revenues because these dollars have real consequences for our Territory’s economic future.

This is bigger than rum. These revenues help support the financial foundation our government relies upon to meet obligations and invest in priorities that matter to our people—from healthcare and education to GERS and essential public services.

Leadership means recognizing threats before they become crises. It means speaking up, building partnerships, and making sure Washington understands that the Virgin Islands cannot be an afterthought.

I raised the alarm then. I remain committed now. And with your continued support, I will keep standing up for every Virgin Islander and protecting the resources our Territory deserves.

The work continues. The fight continues. And I’m ready to keep delivering.

WHEN RESIDENTS FACE PROBLEMS, I GET TO WORK. 🇻🇮📦

I heard the concerns from Virgin Islanders experiencing delays, confusion, and inconsistent information surrounding package and courier clearances—and I took those concerns directly to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

These discussions helped bring greater clarity to the process for our residents, including required clearance documents, personal shipments, excise tax procedures, and the handling of critical medical and emergency shipments.

But my advocacy doesn’t stop with getting answers. I have also called on courier companies to be transparent with their customers, provide accurate information, and follow the updated clearance requirements so Virgin Islanders aren't unnecessarily caught in the middle.

This is what representation should look like: listening to your concerns, bringing the right people to the table, demanding answers, and working toward solutions.

As your Senator-at-Large, I remain committed to fighting for fair treatment and better service for residents across St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island.

There is more work to do—and I’m ready to keep working for you.

PROTECTING OUR PUBLIC ROADS

Bill No. 36-0110 requires a Department of Public Works permit before excavating a public roadway and establishes a framework for appropriate fees, inspections, restoration requirements, and enforcement. Permit revenues are directed to the District Public Road Fund for road maintenance and improvements.

This is about accountability. When our roads are cut for utility work or other projects, residents should not be left with poorly restored trenches, damaged pavement, or another repair bill.

The legislation has already advanced through the legislative process, including favorable consideration by the Committee on Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure and Planning and the Committee on Rules and Judiciary.

I remain committed to protecting the infrastructure our people depend on and establishing standards that help ensure public roads are properly restored after excavation.
