Social Media Policy (Effective November 15, 2021):
Tooele City (and the Tooele City Historic Main Street Commission) uses Social Media platforms to disseminate important government and community information to the publi
c. This Administrative Policy guides Tooele City’s management of its Social Media sites. Comments and content posted to Tooele City’s social media sites will be monitored. Under this Policy, Tooele City reserves the right, but undertakes no duty, to restrict, review, edit, move, or delete any material or content submitted as a comment to the information provided for display or placed on the City’s social media sites, including the following:
• Comments, video or photographic content, links, or articles not topically related to the particular social media content being posted or commented upon, including random or unintelligible comments;
• Comments in support of or opposition to political campaigns, candidates, ballot measures, policy positions, or pending legislation (except as proposed for, or formally approved by, vote of the City Council), including comments, links, photos, or videos opposing, endorsing, or promoting candidates running for public office, specific policies, or political organizations;
• Obscene or profane language or content;
• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender/gender identity), sexual orientation, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, or other legally protected characteristic;
• Sexual content or links to sexual content;
• Solicitations or promotions of commerce, including spam, advertising or links to other websites;
• Conduct or encouragement of violence, hatred, or illegal activity;
• Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public, public agencies, or public utility systems;
• Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party, such as a copywrite infringement. This Policy may be modified by the City from time to time without notice.
