Carnivore & Pangolin Conservation Program

Carnivore & Pangolin Conservation Program Founded in 1995, the Carnivore and Pangolin Conservation Program is co-managed by Cuc Phuong National Park and Save Vietnam's Wildlife

The main centre is in Cuc Phuong National Park and the program has four main areas of activity:

1. Rescue and Rehabilitation. The program runs a nationwide rescue service and will rescue trade-confiscated small carnivores and pangolins from anywhere in Vietnam. Rescued animals are then rehabilitated and eventually released back into the wild if they are healthy and fit enough.

2. Conservation Br

eeding

We run the country's only conservation breeding program for the threatened Owston's palm civet (Chrotogale owstoni). This is an international breeding program that is supported by several zoos in the United Kingdom.

3. Education, Training and Awareness

Training workshops in species identification, placement of confiscated wildlife and basic animal care are regularly given to Wildlife Protection Authorities in Vietnam. We also regularly engage with the national media to raise awareness on the conservation of our species.

4. Field Research

The program runs field activities across Vietnam, with particular focus on the U Minh wetlands of the Mekong Delta, South Vietnam. Previous field work has also focused on the Ke Go-Khe Net Lowlands, Central Vietnam.
