Hey guys, so run-off elections are tomorrow and I thought I would make one final post to tell y'all a little more about myself.
So, I went to Baylor University for undergrad. At Baylor I spent some time as the president of an apartment
complex committee. In this position, I was in charge of setting up meetings to discuss any apartment
problems and plan social events for the tenants. I would listen to complaints and always be open to
suggestions. I was also a social chair and public relations chair of the Biology society. I took
all of these positions as a way to meet different people and listen to them.
On more of personal level, I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I am a middle child and have four
siblings. I enjoy being around people and listening to whatever they have to say. I also enjoy playing
guitar and find to be a good way to relieve stress. Food is good. I am almost always down to eat with
people.
Also I was thinking about our spring break problem. I am unsure whether or not we will be able to get a spring break but maybe we can work to throw a big social event in its place to at least get some relief!

Why did we decide to run as a team?
No one person can create the change our class is demanding without teamwork, balance, and meaningful discourse. Xavier, Andrew, and I are a team and we each bring individual strengths to the table. Andrew is pragmatic and keeps our ideas in the realms of reality. Xavier is always cognizant on our motivation to make UTMB a better place for our class and onward. I focus on logistics, planning, and communication.
With three people working together, we cover more ground and increase exposure to the sentiments of the student body!

Parking is a major concern for many students in our class at UTMB. Many of us have difficulty finding a spot without going to campus extremely early. This problem is further amplified for students who commute to campus. After brainstorming between ourselves and with some students, we've come up with a few solutions:

1. Proposing a "Commuter Lot" that is designated for those who have to travel via motor vehicle to campus
2. Introducing a shuttle system that can shuttle people from a student lot on the outskirts of campus to a central location on campus. A lot like how orientation was conducted, but with more than one shuttle.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on our ideas and welcome any new ideas that you'd like proposed to help with parking.

Here are our bios to give you all a little more information about who we are.

Mario Zuniga (Candidate for President): My name is Mario A. Zuniga Palma. As Class President, I’m focused on 3 things. I will represent our class and community with Transparent communication, Timely updates and responses, and a willingness to have Tough conversations. My past success in organizations like the Texas A&M Diversity council allows me the confidence to bring all 3 to the UTMB community. With this foundation, I will be the ear on the ground to students interests and the megaphone to staff and administration. I’m excited to begin working for you and making UTMB a better place for the Class of 2023 and onwards.

Xavier Santos (Candidate for Vice President): My name is Xavier Santos, I am running for the SGA vice president position in hopes to be a voice for the student body of our medical school class. I see it as an opportunity to serve and grow as a person. Through this position, I will have the chance to meet many more people, in hopes of creating lasting relationships. My goal is to listen and give as much of a voice to those I meet as possible. If anything, I want to make sure everybody feels heard, cared for, and know they have a friend that is working for their best interest on the inside.

Andrew Ginsberg (Candidate for Secretary/Treasurer): My name is Andrew Ginsberg, and I am running to be your class secretary/treasurer. I was born and raised in Houston Texas, completed my undergraduate degree in biology at Trinity University, and then completed a masters degree in physiology at Tulane University. I believe I would be a good candidate for this position because I am organized, attentive and very easy to reach and communicate with. As the secretary/treasurer, I will try and take care of any logistical needs and issues our class is dealing with as well as be an outlet for everyone to discuss problems that may be occurring.
