Can envy and greed do us any good?
Certainly, the answer is NO! Agree?

It will not do us good...
instead, it will even push us to do evil... just like the Pharisees did to the Lord Jesus in the today gospel of John 11:45-56...

Because of His teachings with authority...
because of His many miracles like healing the sick and raising the dead... example, raising Lazarus to life...
He became so famous, especially to the poor...

The ruling authorities(Pharisees and Scribes) were already threatened by Jesus' growing popularity...

So, they were planning to silence Jesus by plotting to kill Him...

But their evil plan to kill Jesus... and so goes also His popularity... did not happen that way...
for their plan did not go as they want it to be... Right?

What if the Pharisees did not envy the Lord Jesus?

What if they simply had a dialogue with Jesus so they could work hand in hand to help the poor?

But because of envy and greed in their hearts... they chose to allow the Devil to dictate and manipulate them...

Hence, they committed a despicable crime of killing an innocent man in Jesus...

The message of the gospel today is to challenge and encourage us to w**d out our feelings of envy and greed in our hearts...

Instead of being envious to people who are excelling and becoming great... let us be happy and show them salute and praise!

Instead of being greedy... why not become generous...

Let us avoid the "crab mentality" that leads us down... and not progress in our lives...

Weaving Justice: A Call to End Grave Abuse of Health Funds

The recent pronouncement of Executive Secretary Ralph Recto underscores the gravity of the issue surrounding the transfer of PhilHealth funds.

While he asserts compliance with the Supreme Court’s ruling and reiterates his innocence, it must be emphasized that the unanimous 15–0 decision of the Supreme Court on December 3, 2025 categorically declared the transfer of PHP60 billion from PhilHealth’s reserve funds to the national treasury unconstitutional.

This landmark ruling did not address criminal liability, as the petitions before the Court were limited to grave abuse of discretion.

However, the filing of complaints by doctors, health advocates, and lawyers before the Office of the Ombudsman is a legitimate and necessary step to determine accountability.

The charges of plunder, technical malversation, and graft are not political noise but serious allegations that demand impartial investigation.

The Filipino people deserve justice. Health funds are sacred, meant to protect lives and uphold the promise of Universal Health Care. Any diversion of these funds undermines public trust and directly harms millions of members who rely on PhilHealth for their medical needs.

This case must serve as a chilling message to all public officials: grave abuse of power, especially meddling with health funds, will not be tolerated. Compliance after the fact does not erase the constitutional violation nor the prejudice caused to the people.

We call on the Ombudsman to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, ensuring that accountability is established and justice is delivered.

The protection of health funds is not merely a legal matter—it is a moral covenant with the Filipino people.
