A fugitive charged with possession and creation of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) was apprehended in Ecuador and extradited to Massachusetts after being on the run since 2020.

The arrest and extradition were the result of coordinated efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies, working together across international borders to locate and return the defendant to Massachusetts.

“There are no jurisdictional boundaries when it comes to pursuing justice,” said District Attorney David E. Sullivan. “This case demonstrates what happens when local, state and federal law enforcement agencies share information and work collaboratively toward a common goal. We are grateful to every agency who assisted in finding and returning the defendant to the Commonwealth to face these charges.”

A Ware man was sentenced yesterday to 20–25 years in state prison followed by 10 years of supervised probation after being convicted of 28 counts of r**e and s*xual abuse of a child. He will be required to register as a s*x offender.

"We commend the survivor for her courage and perseverance throughout this process,” said Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Jimenez. “While no sentence can undo the harm caused, we hope this outcome provides her and her family with some measure of closure. We will continue to stand with survivors and vigorously pursue accountability for those who exploit and victimize children.”

An Athol couple has been sentenced to state prison following an investigation that began after an individual overdosed at the residence of one of the defendants. An investigation by the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force revealed that, despite the overdose, the defendant continued selling narcotics from the residence, and her boyfriend later joined her in the drug trafficking.

“Cases like this highlight the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts to identify and hold accountable individuals who continue to distribute dangerous narcotics in our communities,” said Assistant District Attorney Aidan Lanciani. “The work of the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force, including in particular, Detective Travis Rushford from the Orange Ma Police Department, was critical in uncovering that this drug activity continued even after a serious overdose occurred at the residence and an initial arrest. Their dedication to investigating and disrupting the illegal distribution of fentanyl and other substances helps make our communities safer.”
