Always an honour to march in the Chilliwack Remembrance Day celebration and represent the Chilliwack Fire Department on such an important day.
We had the privilege of escorting retired firefighter Richard Grosvenor to the cenotaph who placed a wreath on behalf of the Chilliwack Fire Department.
Thank you for your 31 years of service Firefighter Grosvenor.
Lest we forget

April 28th is National Day of Mourning. Today we take time to remember all workers who never made it home to their loved ones, as well as those who suffered illness/injury or experienced a workplace tragedy.

Hundreds of Firefighters from across the continent (including members from our honour guard), lined the streets downtown Vancouver on Thursday to honour one of their own.

Vancouver Fire Captain Steve Letourneau died at the age of 59 in June 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic his colleagues were prevented from honouring him until now.

During his 37 years of service, he served in all 20 of the city's fire halls.

Your presence will surely be missed.

Rest easy brother.

It’s been 17 years since four RCMP officers β€” known as the Fallen Four β€” were shot and killed near Mayerthorpe, Alta.

The incident was the worst one-day loss of life for the RCMP since five officers drowned on June 7, 1958, and the worst multiple-officer killing in contemporary Canadian history.

Constables: Anthony Gordon, Lionide "Leo" Johnston, Brock Myrol and Peter Schiemann. May they Rest In Peace

Members Jeff Martin and Ben Neufeld from our honour guard attended the First Responders and Matthew Hutchinson Memorial Awards Night this past Saturday.

Hutchinson, a volunteer firefighter, and former Chilliwack Chief died tragically in 2016. Since then, the Chiefs have honoured his life and commitment to service by partnering with local first responders to celebrate their own each year.

Award recipients were each nominated by their peers for demonstrating excellence in their field and exceptional community service.

Our very own Lt. Lisa Axelson received an award that night. She has been a firefighter in Chilliwack for 20 years. In 2008 she was promoted to fire inspector and then fire prevention officer in 2018. Lt. Axelson’s passion is to make sure our community is safer through education and prevention. She has educated thousands throughout her time with CFD and is a major resource to other firefighters. She is set to retire this summer on her 60th birthday.

Congratulations Lieutenant and thank you! πŸ‘πŸΌ
