Knowle Labour Promoted by David Evans on behalf of the Labour Party, 20 Rushworth Street, London SEl OSS

Hi all,

Unfortunately with today’s results we can confirm that we will not be your councillors for the next 3 years. We’d like to thank each and every person who had supported us these last 2 years and who went out to vote this Thursday. Special thanks of course to our campaigners who have helped us knock on doors, leaflet and overall get our message out to the residents of Knowle.

It’s been a tough 2 years with our local campaigning cut short by the general election followed by the pandemic. It’s not been the easiest of circumstances but every campaign session was positive and we managed to give local people a voice about local issues.

We adore this area and we are so proud that we were able to represent this area on behalf of the Labour Party, and whilst we didn’t win it has been a tremendous experience that we will take forward with us.

We would like to congratulate the Lib Dem councillors who have won re-election again and we wish them luck for the next 3 years.

Congratulations to Dan Norris on the victory in the Metro Mayor elections! We know you’ll be a fantastic advocate for the area and can’t wait to see what you can do for us.

It’s a huge honour to be elected as Metro Mayor for an amazing part of the world that I am so proud to call home. I will show the difference an active Metro Mayor makes for our region. This role is about collaboration and I will be a Metro Mayor who listens carefully and works cooperatively. I’m determined to hit the ground running with a Jobs and Skills summit in my first 100 days and launching my Green Recovery Plan. I also know that the pandemic has been tough and as we build back, invest in jobs and our high streets, we must learn key lessons. Together we can create a society where we keep looking out for each other and value what’s truly important.

Our youth led - Knowle West Bike Clubs 2 wheeled revolution is starting to pick up some pace 😉 🚲

We engaged 40+ young people last night 👀 on Newquay Rd. Got some great ideas for future sessions from young people, Dr John supported some young people to fix their bikes, done a team litter pick comp, bit of yoga 🧘‍♂️ and a bikes tricks challenge ✊🏻🙌🏽👏🏿

Bring on the post Covid days when we can get all the kit out and go full throttle on the activities 👍🏻❤️

We have received news that Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol will reopen Jubilee Swimming Pool as soon as restrictions allow it to.

This is fantastic news for the community of Knowle who has asked for the pool to remain open, and has been listened to. We thank each and every activist who rallied around the cause and the Save Jubilee Pool from Closure campaign. If it was only signing and sharing the petition to handing our flyers and leaflets or more, well done on your fantastic hard work over these last few months!

Of course our friends Councillor Wellington for Windmill Hill and Councillor Rippington for Brislington East should receive our thanks for their work setting up the cross party group and ensuring it came to a solution that worked for Knowle. It was a difficult job but we’re glad that everyone regardless of political affiliation came to a sensible solution and got the result we needed.

Of course this opening will only be until 2022, and we know that this is only the beginning. We have to ensure the pool stays open past 2022 and should we be elected as Knowle’s councillors this May, we will work as hard as we can to keep it open for years to come. For the time being though, we cannot wait to see it open and for residents to finally use the pool. 🏊‍♀️🏊🏊‍♀️🏊🏊‍♀️🏊

Candidates for the Labour Party in Knowle.
