Merry Christmas Boos blankets family!!! Our latest drive was amazing. 77 blankets to the Portage County foster system that made so many kids happy and warm this holiday season. Our New Year goal is to donate another 68 to give every child currently in the care a blanket of their own. Thank you all who continue to support…..Boo celebrating Christmas with us for another year!!

Long time since an update, and this one could not be more positive. What started out as an expectation of weeks to months has turned into a year and counting. Yep, I have typed it correctly we are AT A YEAR! A 24% chance has blessed our family and Boo is still passing each QTRY scan and doing things that makes his doctor continue to be shocked. I feel he gets much joy from this accomplishment 😊 Next scan is in October, so prayer warriors be on alert! Throughout the year we have continued Boo’s Blankets to Crossroads Hospice and Portage County Child Services. Last week I received a call from Kent’s Brian Boykin (Kent alumni) asking if we would consider contributing blankets to their Christmas drive. YES was our answer! Any remaining blankets we have (around 20) will be made and sent to Kent area children in foster care. However, at the 150+ children currently in care, I was hoping to make that number around 50 or more.
Boo’s Blankets can be made for around $25 – $30 depending on fabric sales and are so easy to create and maintain. Even small contributions added together can give one of these kids a blanket of their own heading into winter! If any of your friends, employers, local businesses, organizations, or communities are looking to do something positive this holiday season, please consider forwarding this effort. We need to have the blankets made by the beginning of December, therefore hoping to have any donations received by Thanksgiving.
Please share to get the word out and or have some positive news in your everyday life.
Love,
The Walkers

So proud to announce our latest teaming with Portage County Child Services! So many kids need a stable and good home to grow in. It is heartbreaking when many become adults without any family. We have pledged that each emancipated foster child in 2022 will receive a blanket. Here are some pictures of the January donation! The future adults will have a form to capture their favorite hobbies, colors, animals, etc. so each blanket is customized to them. In addition, we provided blankets to all kids at the current boy’s home.
Debbie, along with many of her friends, have found making these blankets relaxing and rewarding. Therefore, we are going to continue to support the community and cause for as long as possible. If you know of anyone that wants to contribute small amounts, please spread the word. If you have any suggestions outside of Facebook to get the word out, please send me suggestions!
Current partners we have and continue to provide blankets as needed are:
• Crossroads Palliative and Hospice care
• Safe Futures Women’s Shelter
• Freedom House Men’s Vets home
• Portage County Child Services
Welcome your thoughts!

Starting out the 2022 with some big plans! We had another batch of 15 blankets sent to Crossroads. Some of the recipients were happy to pose with them! The palliative care nurses continue to share their excitement and patient requests. We are now up to 70 blankets overall.
Shopping at JoAnn’s always turns heads as we got our last load of fabric from donations. I can’t tell you all how this has helped our family focus on something so positive. Thank you for making this happen!

Happy New Year to our followers for Boo’s Blankets! We want to update you on our holiday activities thanks to your support and generosity! 10 blankets were given to each resident of Freedom House, a Veterans’ home, in their holiday bags. 10 blankets were also given to all of the women and children at Safer Futures. Finally another 10 blankets were given to Crossroads Palliative and Hospice care. So far we have made and distributed 53 blankets out.
We could not have succeeded in this vision without your financial and emotional contributions. It has kept all spirits up and really has made an impact in Boo’s community.
We have much more to do and are continuing more ways to make others lives a little easier.
Bruce “Boo” has completed his chemotherapy and is doing great. Doctors are very happy with his progress. Looking forward to some family vacations!
Thank you again from our entire family. Much more to come in 2022!

Continual thanks to everyone who has liked, shared, and promoted this page. Huge thanks for all the donations that we have received to date.

I wanted to provide 3 updates!

1. A donor has reached out and has offered to match the donations that will be made through Sunday night up to 50 blankets worth! So if anyone is considering donating, it can be doubled! Skipping one coffee run to make a $5 contribution makes a big difference.

2. It's getting cold out there and the support has been huge! We even now have more people making the blankets. As a result we decided to reach out to 2 other organizations that are very special to us. We have contacted Safer Futures (a women's safety shelter) and Freedom House (a Veterans men's shelter) and will be donating 20 blankets each.

3. I am not always technical with applications as many of you have reached out about. I only setup Venmo for this purpose! Therefore please message, text, or email [email protected] and I will send you my address if you prefer that method.

Forwarding this message to anyone who many not be on Facebook but has a passion for these types of projects is just as much as any financial contribution. Getting the word out to inspire people to give, even outside of this project means as much to Boo.

As dad says....Peace!

If you want to support Boo’s Blankets, below is a Venmo account for the effort. PM me for other options. I can make a blanket for 15 – 30 dollars depending on the sales. 😊 So small donations will go a long way to make this goal.

If you have a message, dedication, or pattern design that you want me to include, happy to do so. Each blanket has a typed message attached to it for the recipient.

So far 6 blankets (attached) have been made and picked up today by Crossroads! Crossroads is who my dad is under care for as well.

Thanks for any consideration or forwarding this on to anyone that wants to join in on this goal or just the continual prayers, positivity, and support many of you continue to give.

Hi family and friends,

Sooooo what do you do when one of the biggest hearts is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer? Figure out a way to still bring joy! My dad and I started Boo’s Blankets! (Boo is my dad’s high school nickname) 😊

Over the last few months, our family has been reconciling the news that my dad has cancer. He is a fighter, and is tackling this the best he can daily. As you know, dad is always giving and is the first to make soup to anyone who is sick or take them to any appointment needed. While he is not able to do that now, he still is very big on giving. Cancer treatment is a very scary and demanding process. Regardless of your support circle, it is almost unbearable at times.

Partnering with Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, nurses will be handing out handmade fleece blankets to patients in need or without a lot of support. As we continue to supply blankets, they will go to anyone who is under this amazing organization’s care. Our goal is 100 blankets! I am busy for sure making them, but it keeps me moving and focusing on the positive. Bruce is thrilled about the project. The nurses have already talk to patients about requests of fabric design, and with the winter coming, those who don’t have good heating are really excited.

Please like and share our page! It is the start of the season of giving, so even if you are not able to donate to Boo's Blankets, there are so many other little things that you can do to people struggling during this time.
