In response to the pressing need for bolstering reading proficiency among students, a comprehensive Catch-up Fridays program was introduced to bridge gaps and foster a culture of literacy. This initiative was born out of a commitment to inclusivity, recognizing the diverse of learning needs within the student body. The introduction of Catch-up Fridays activities aimed to strengthened foundational, social, and other relevant skills necessary to actualize the intent of the basic education curriculum by focusing on the development of the learners’ reading, critical thinking, analytical, and a writing skills.

Dacudac Elementary School joins the implementation of Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) to commence the implementation of Catch-up Fridays in support with the DepEd Memorandum No. 001, s.2024. The activity was done in synchronize between 1:00 – 1:30 pm by all grade level. Teachers allow students to choose any reading materials of their own choice whether English or Filipino to read independently. Following to this activity was the sharing of story they read among their peers.

The activity was successfully instilled a sense of reading. Observations indicate a positive shift in students’ attitudes towards reading, with many expressing heightened enthusiasm and focus during the DEAR sessions.

Dacudac Elementary School Conducts the National Learning Camp 2023 Kick-Off Activity!
July 25, 2023 at Dacudac Elementary School front of PSIP Building.

Singing of the national anthem and opening prayer are the preliminaries. Mrs. Virginia C. Cawilli , the Schood Head delivers the opening remarks with a message in support for the implementation of National Learning Camp.

Objectives, context, rationale and guidelines are informed and elaborated to stakeholders.

Part II of the activity is the submission of the Learner’s Registration Form and Parental Consent.
