Please join members of United Way Women United for a lunch and learn on Thursday, October 1, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM at The Talon Room (230 N. 12th St., Ste 1) featuring two members of the team at Lincoln City Libraries: Ryan Wieber, Library Director, and Ali Bousquet, Coordinator, Youth & Outreach Services.

Come hear a moderated discussion about children's literacy, strengthening families, and how we are all United in Something Bigger.

“I began my college education with a path towards being an educator because of my passion to support the education and development of young children. As my career ventured into another direction, I still care about giving children the best futures possible.”

"Donating to United Way means that I can combine two of my life’s passions by strengthening our entire community AND putting a deeper focus towards early childhood development through United Way’s Emerging Leaders United.”

“I started donating a small amount each year. And as my role grew at work, I knew I could give back more to my community. It feels good to know I am making a difference.”

“There is a tremendous amount of data that shows how impactful programs funded by United Way can be to the overall quality of life for those that benefit from them. However, there is nothing more telling of the difference that is being made than the smile on the faces of the kids when you show up to their classroom simply by being there to support and help them through their day as a volunteer.”

“On the surface, it may appear impossible to provide every young child with a strong education, financial stability, and physical and mental health, but I suppose our Emerging Leaders group can be considered ignorant as we all believe that this future can become a reality.”

It's the night before school, and our volunteers made sure the teachers at Campbell Elementary School were prepared to welcome students back with school kits and fully decorated classrooms!

Our friends at Copper & Wax Co. have hand-poured a limited run of candles in recognition of the work being done by our Labor Partners United to strengthen the Havelock neighborhood. $5 from every candle purchase supports our efforts to open up access to basic needs, address youth behavioral health needs, expand learning opportunities and grow workforce development. Every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. That's why our caring volunteers spent the week at McPhee Elementary School to help incoming kindergarteners and first graders get ready for their first day of school. Not only does this "Jump Start" help students academically, but it helps them and their families feel comfortable, confident and connected. It's moments like these that remind us we are United in Something Bigger!
