Do you have a well or septic system that is failing?
The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources is providing more than $1 million in federal pandemic rescue funding to help low- and moderate-income homeowners repair or replace failed or inadequate wells and septic systems. Apply by April 15th.

Background During the pandemic, some low-income Vermont homeowners saw their income disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and had their on-site water (such as wells) or wastewater systems (such as septic tanks and leach fields) fail. Learn more about how ADUs can help solve the affordable housing shortage in our community by attending this webinar. Consider using one of the MRV Housing Coalition’s ADU grants to build one on your property! For more information reach out to us through Facebook or by email at [email protected].

Learn more about how you or your community can increase housing by adding accessory dwelling units—also known as ADUs—a home built on a lot of an existing home—at this online workshop on November 3 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.. ADUs offer one approach that communities and ordinary homeowners can use to create much-needed housing that fits within the context of a surrounding neighborhood.

Register online to join this virtual discussion about:

(1) how ADUs have positively impacted the lives of their inhabitants, and
(2) what’s preventing more widespread construction of ADUs, and (3) what are some strategies for addressing barriers.

Moderated by James Vayo of Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission; sponsored by Southwest Region Planning Commission, Vital Communities, and The Local Crowd Monadnock.

The VT Senate passed the Rental Housing Safety Bill!! We look forward to Gov. Phil Scott's support of this bill! Thank you to all who helped move this critical legislation along.

S. 79 will help improve Vermont’s aging housing stock, ensure that tenants receive an adequate response to health and safety complaints, and help bring both consistency and equity to Vermont's rental housing market. - Thriving Communities

Senators voted 20-10 to overturn the governor’s vetoes, thereby giving noncitizens in Winooski and Montpelier the right to vote in local elections.
