NOTICE RESOLVED
The Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) wishes to inform the public that Ricardo Ramesh Chanarbhan and Mervyn Tayyib John, who were previously featured in wanted bulletins issued by the Unit in connection with ongoing narcotics investigations, have since reported to CANU Headquarters and are no longer wanted for questioning.

CANU expresses its appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and assistance in this matter. Investigations remain ongoing.

On Wednesday, 13th May 2026, CANU Officers, acting on information received, conducted an intelligence-led operation at Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

During the operation, several individuals were observed sitting under a shop adjacent to a residence. CANU Officers approached the individuals and requested to conduct searches.

A male and a female who were present informed Officers that they resided at the adjacent residence.

A subsequent search of the residence in the presence of the two led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis concealed inside a small haversack located in a bedroom reportedly occupied by both individuals.

Alvin Heralall, a 23-year-old labourer of mixed ancestry of Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, and Natasha Boodhoo, a 21-year-old unemployed, were informed of the Officers’ suspicion, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics.

At CANU Headquarters, the suspected cannabis tested positive for cannabis and weighed approximately 680 grammes.

Investigations are ongoing.

CANU continues to intensify its efforts against micro-level drug trafficking through targeted intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting the retail distribution of narcotics within communities. The Unit recognises that small-scale trafficking contributes significantly to wider criminal activity, youth exposure, and
community harm. As such, CANU remains committed to proactive enforcement, strengthened surveillance, and collaborative action to dismantle local drug distribution networks and maintain public safety across Guyana.

On Tuesday, 12th May 2026, CANU Officers, acting on information received, conducted an intelligence-led operation at Christiana Street, North Ruimveldt,
Georgetown.

During the operation, Officers observed two males standing in front of a shop in the area. The individuals were approached and identified as:

• Dennis Pilgrim, a 73-year-old painter of 3676 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown; and

• Kevaughn Adams, a 22-year-old mason of 3617 Christiana Street, North Ruimveldt,
Georgetown.

CANU Officers informed both individuals of the operation and requested to conduct searches. During the searches, Officers discovered quantities of suspected cannabis in their possession.

Both individuals were informed of the Officers’ suspicion, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics.

At CANU Headquarters, the narcotic tested positive for cannabis. The cannabis found in Dennis Pilgrim’s possession was weighed and amounted to 56 grammes, while the cannabis found in Kevaughn Adams’ possession amounted to 29.5 grammes.

Investigations are ongoing.

CANU remains steadfast in its efforts to combat micro-trafficking and the street-level distribution of narcotics across Guyana. Through sustained intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and strategic enforcement activities, the Unit continues to target individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, regardless of quantity. These efforts form part of CANU’s broader mandate to disrupt local distribution networks, reduce the availability of illicit drugs within communities, and safeguard public health and national security.
