This week, Beast Battery conducted its Artillery Tables II and IV for the Howitzer sections in the Battery. Rain or shine, each section got the opportunity to showcase their crew and fire mission processing drills. Next up for each section is Artillery Table V!

4-1 Field Artillery "First or Not at All"
This week, Beast Battery conducted the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). SGT Tiedtke had the highest score in the Battery with a 598. Highest Platoon Average is 2nd Platoon with a 519. We can’t wait to see everyone’s scores improve!

Last week, Beast Battery ended the week with a couple of promotions and a farewell. Congratulations to SGT Tolutau, SGT Rivenburg, and SSG Smith on their promotions! Beast Battery is excited to see what your futures hold. Lastly, thank you to Smoke Montjoie for serving as the 1st Platoon Smoke for over a year and mentoring the Soldiers in the Battery.
45. Life is more fun with great teammates
This week, Beast Battery conducted their Artillery Skills Proficiency Test (ASPT) to include Position Specific testing for both 13Bs and 13Js. All individuals were able to sharpen their knowledge base on artillery tasks and demonstrate their expertise in front of their peers. Thank you to all our evaluators from Alpha and the Battalion MGs SFC Leduc, SFC Latta, and SFC Marks.

Last week, Beast Battery thanked 1LT Coleman for everything she has done for her Platoon, the Battery, and the Battalion. 1LT Coleman has made a huge impact in the Battery and her work ethic and drive will be missed. 2nd platoon will definitely miss all the sprints and platoons runs. Good luck on your next job as the DIVARTY AG, and your future as a Flight Warrant Officer!

Yesterday, Beast Battery conducted its first Platoon on Platoon physical training competition. The event consisted of eight teams of five. The competition included:

50m lunge per person
Litter carry with 5 water jugs
10 burpee over water cans
Litter carry with 5 water jugs
15 Tpushups per person
Litter carry with 5 water jugs
50m buddy drag
One mile run all in kit
Fastest team: 2nd PLT SGT Velazquez, SGT Lee, SPC Villarreal, SPC Illidge, and PFC Melendez 36:33
Best Platoon Average: HQs CPT Romo, 1LT Arrington, SGT Smith, SPC Brown, and PFC Hernandez

This week, Beast Battery promoted SPC Illidge to Specialist. Thank you for all you do for 2nd PLT and the Battery, and we are excited to see your progress through the ranks!
Last week, Beast Battery closed out the week with a reenlistment for SGT Smithfabrizio, a resource overview from the Fort Bliss Army Substance Abuse Program, and a LPD on R3P co-taught with DISTRO Platoon, Fox Battery leadership. Thank you to Mr. Chris Lewis from the Fort Bliss ASAP, and Gunnery Sergeant SSG Thomas, SFC Collazo and LT Berg (Fox Battery DISTRO PL and PSG) for teaching and organizing last weeks classes!

Last week, Beast Battery ended the week with a few promotions and some quality training. Congratulations to CPL Thomas and CPL Tolutau for laterally promoting to CPL and for SGT Huerta making points and pinning Sergeant! We can't wait to see you three grow as NCOs. After the promotions, Beast Battery collectively conducted Reconnaissance, Selection, and Occupation of Position (RSOP) training in the local training area.

Beast Battery promoted SPC Brown, SPC Guadarrama, and SPC Bledsoe to SPC. All three Soldiers have made a huge impact in the Battery and will continue to mentor the young enlisted Soldiers. Additionally, Beast Battery will like to thank SGT Martinez, SPC Ferry, and SPC Scott for all they have done for the Battery these last three years, and wish them the best on their future endeavors!
Yesterday, Beast Battery conducted ASPT training in preparation for their certifications in late September. All Beast Soldiers understand that repetitions build habitat!

Last week we conducted a Combined Live Fire Exercise with a Field Artillery unit from the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army.
It was an amazing event that ended with both B/4-1 FA (US) and C/661 FA (ROK) firing simultaneously on a single target.
We conducted a site Recon today in preparation for a combined event with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army. Beautiful weather. Had one group talking strategy and ex*****on, and another talking logistics and support. It was great training and a good experience. Our Korean counterpart (CPT Kim) jumped in and gave us a thumbs up for one of the pics.
This morning we reenlisted SPC Martinez for 4 years with a promise of Airborne School.

SPC Kreck passed the promotion board today! She is now SPC(P) Kreck. We are all so proud of her dedication. She is a great asset to the unit.
Today SPC Escamilla reenlisted for another three years! It was a great day. And yes, she is smiling behind the mask.

Beast has emerged from NTC. We have dominated and overcame a ton of challenges but each and every Beast showed up to win.
Beast maintained our fleet and kept fires in the fight for Bulldog BDE. During this rotation we learned a bit more about ourselves as individuals, crews, sections, Platoons and as a Battery and triumphed over every adversity thrown our way challenges and frustrations, our Soldiers managed to have some fun in the procrss.
I know for our families in El Paso they have had their own challenges, our number one priority over the coming days is to ensure all of our Soldiers safely return home and are able to enjoy a well-deserved break over Thanksgiving.
1SG and myself are extremely proud of the performance our Beasts showed, with true professionalism and grit to achieve everything asked of the BTRY.

This weeks Beast of the Week is SGT Wilbert Kessay!! SGT Kessay is a Gunner in 5th Section, and during TBL VI/XII went above and beyond to mentor his new Number 1 man, resulting in his crew successfully certifying on both Artillery Tables. SGT Kessay is one of the hardest workers in the Battery, and can accomplish any task thrown at him. We are proud to call SGT Kessay our Beast of the Week!!
Great day to be a Beast!! After shooting a quick Table VI this afternoon, we had the privilege of promoting PV2 Blayma Escamilla to Private First Class. An extremely well deserved promotion for a great Soldier!

In recognition of Nurses Week we want to say thank you to a few of those on the frontlines of this pandemic.
Thank you to Ashley Smith, a Labor and Delivery Nurse and Sarah Rosa, an ICU Nurse in El Paso. Thank you for the support you give the Battery and the care you provide to the families in the area.
Thank you to all the Nurses around the globe who daily provide the care and compassion need to their patients on their best days and on their worst day. You all are Beast and heros everyday.
Congratulations to PVT Escamilla on being selected as the Bulldog Hero of the Week. You are a remarkable leader in your section, keep up the fire and the great work in your FDC.
Congratulations to PV2 Escamilla from 4-1 Field Artillery "First or Not at All" who was selected as the Hero of the Week for the last week of May!
She took the lead and continued training the other Soldiers of her section in the absence of her Officer and NCOs. She constantly sets the example for other Soldiers and can perform every role in the Fire Direction Center. Keep up the good work.
