It's that time of year—property valuation notices have arrived! Understanding your property tax rate and valuation is crucial, but we also know it can be a little confusing, so we’re sharing this quick video (https://youtu.be/nkMzAXd9oj0?si=8C_ieuDITu4PjyIu (https://youtu.be/nkMzAXd9oj0?si=8C_ieuDITu4PjyIu)) on how tax rates are determined. We also have some other helpful information to share as you navigate this process:
1 Tax Rates & Valuation Notices:
• Your property tax rate is based on the assessed value of your property and determines the amount you'll owe in property taxes for the year. However, you only pay taxes on the “taxable” value of your property. Primary residential properties receive a 45% tax exemption in Utah.
2 Right to Appeal:
• Not happy with your property valuation? You have the right to appeal! If you believe your property has been overvalued, you can file an appeal with the Tooele County Assessor’s. It's a straightforward process and could potentially lower your tax bill. Boe.tooeleco.gov

3 Abatement Programs:
• Did you know there are programs that can reduce or defer your property taxes? These are often available for seniors, veterans, and low-income households. If you are a disabled veteran or 66+ and made less than $44,840 in 2023, you could benefit from property tax abatement programs. During this week's Tooele County Council meeting, the Council approved the contract for the reconstruction of the Energy Solutions Aquatics Center. Construction is set to begin on Monday, July 29th. We are thrilled to see this incredible facility reimagined and completed for the benefit of our wonderful community's residents.
