May we introduce to you Bartolome “Bart” Lebeng Baldas, Jr.
Bart is a lawyer. He is married to the former Ellen Costina Ebbes, who is a nurse by profession. They have three children and they call Bayabas, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet their home.
He has been a private law practicioner. Presently, he is a partner of the Baldas, Luis, Capuyan and Cayadan Law Office, Golden Court Building, Baguio City. He has had an extensive experience in civil, administrative and criminal cases. His clients include the farmers, the urban poor, professionals, laborers, soldiers, policemen, students and even former rebels. In his professional practice, he has helped several clients pro bono. Some of his pro bono clients include the solo parents, the senior citizens, poor students, the PWDs and many others.
He was the legal officer of the municipality of La Trinidad from May 2018 to October 2021. Through his initiative, several illegal structures at the Puguis Communal Forest were removed in March 2020. During the Covid 19 pandemic, he was in the front-line as a non-health worker as he was designated by Mayor Romeo Salda as the Incident Commander of the Incident Command System, the response system adopted by the LGU in its fight against Covid 19.
He is an educator. He was a college instructor at the College of Criminology, University of Baguio in the mid to late 1990s. At present, he is a member of the faculty of the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), College of Law. And not only in the academe is he active as an educator, he has been invited as resource speaker on various topics as the Katarungang Pambarangay Law, the Solo Parents Act, laws on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), parliamentary procedure and others.
He was elected as a Municipal Councilor of La Trinidad in May 2022. Some of the ordinances he authored are the Silent Night Ordinance, the twin Ordinances for the protection of the farmers and traders at the La Trinidad Trading Post, the Gender Based Violence Hotline Ordinance, the Ordinance for the Expropriation of the Road Right of Way of the Pines Park Bridge, the Ordinance bringing the SB Session to the Barangays and others. He also authored several resolutions and reports. His track record as councilor speaks for itself.
