In commemoration of the 46th death anniversary of National Artist Antonio Molina.

Antonio J. Molina emerged as the last pillar of the musical triumvirate, standing proudly with Nicanor Abelardo and Francisco Santiago, both of whom elevated music beyond its traditional folk roots. From a young age, he displayed extraordinary talent on the violoncello, quickly earning a position as a soloist with the Manila Grand Opera House orchestra.

Molina is renowned for his profound contributions to music theory, which encompass the groundbreaking development of the whole tone scale, the pentatonic scale, and the innovative use of dominant ninths and eleventh chords, along with intricate linear counterpoints. As a faculty member at the UP Conservatory, he was instrumental in molding the education of many of the Philippines' foremost musical talents and educators, including Lucresia Kasilag and Felipe de Leon.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, through the Subcommission on the Arts and the Conrado Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation Inc., continues to celebrate Filipino artistry and creativity with National Arts Month 2026 and its overarching theme “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting”, underscoring how the arts uphold truth, courage, and collaboration and how it contributes to building livable communities, responsible governance, and a sustainable society.

This year’s theme illustrates that art is not merely the product of the creative mind, but also the outcome of peoples’ shared experiences and collective aspirations. As an expression of truth and valor, art becomes a wellspring of hope and a guiding force towards a more just and progressive society.

𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗜 𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗬

Sa araw na ito 129 taon ang nakararaaan, binitay sa pammagitan ng pagbaril si Jose Rizal sa Bagumbayan (kilala ngayon bilang Liwasang Rizal Luneta). Pinaratangan ng mga Espanyol si Rizal bilang diwa ng Himagsikan laban sa pamahalaang kolonyal.

Bilang pag-alaala sa kaniya at sa mga Pilipinong nagbuwis ng buhay sa landas ng paglaya, itinalaga ni Pangulong Emilio Aguinaldo ang ika-30 ng Disyembre bilang pista opisyal at pambansang araw ng pagluluksa.

Magkakaroon ng pag-aalay ng bulaklak sa puntod ni Rizal sa Pambansang Bantayog ni Jose Rizal, Liwasang Rizal Luneta, Maynila. Magkakaroon din ng lektura at art workshop sa NHCP Museo ni Jose Rizal Fort Santiago (Dambanang Jose Rizal Fort Santiago) sa Intramuros, Maynila.
