Moving through life to see that you leave the point you are now, to a point where you don't have to go through a Hercules task to feed and fend for your family and others around you, requires a lot of sacrifices. One major secret that can see this happen is the act of Delayed Gratification. Spending everything that comes into your hands today with the philosophy that "Tomorrow will take care of itself" isn't the wisest of things to do.

Make plans and have financial targets and goals, but most importantly, it is key to discipline yourself a lot more through the principle of Delayed Gratification to not spend all your earnings coming today. Think of tomorrow and do the needful, not just because of you but for the sake of your family and those around you too. Living from hand to mouth is not the best way to do life.

Yesterday the world of football witnessed another unusual face lifting the Ballon d'Or. Karim Benzema, the French International became the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner as a result of his incredible season with his club Real Madrid and his country, France. You will recall that Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both been the regular faces lifting this in while.

In light of this celebration, it is key to also learn some very important lessons from the story. Benzema has been playing for a while but he just had the opportunity of being rewarded for his diligence and dedication. Life is turn by turn. Never become weary and as a result, you give up because it seems like your labour isn't paying off today. Just have this at the back of your mind that your time will come and it may not be far from now.

Keep putting in the effort and reinventing yourself, and just like Karim Benzema who just got rewarded for his diligence, you may be the next shining star.

The contribution of youths to national development cannot be overemphasized. Youths from different parts of our country travel across different lands and seas just to see that they serve their fatherland and this has been made possible through the instrumentality of the NYSC scheme. The NYSC scheme has proven beyond reasonable doubt that national unity despite our diversity is achievable if we all commit our hearts to make it work.

Last week I joined other eminent personalities to represent His Excellency Mr. Governor, Gboyega Oyetola at the maiden edition of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Osun Hall of Fame, and in the course of the programme, I was also given an award.

My deep appreciation goes to the State Coordinator of NYSC Osun, Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab, and her team for this gesture. As a responsible government that has been up and doing, we want to assure the scheme of our continuous support till the end of our tenure and even beyond.

Your desire to see the people of Osun State experience unprecedented growth economically and otherwise is phenomenal. Your passion for the youths which led you to promote different initiatives that were targeted toward the education, empowerment, and engagement of the youths across board is heartwarming.

Indeed, it is evident to all that you are a youth-loving governor and a father to all.

I pray that the blessings of God Almighty will not elude you even as you journey through life in health and well-being.
