We are deeply saddened to share the news that Jake Pospical, a Marine veteran and beloved father, has passed away last Sunday, on June 30th. Jake served his country with honor and faced challenges most of us can only imagine. His passing has left a void in our hearts and in the life of his precious daughter, River.

Jake was one to be remembered by his service and immense love for his family. As a Marine, he was known for his commitment to his friends and his country-- as well has his deep love and admiration for wildlife. He faced everything with esprit de corps and inspired those around him. However, like many veterans, Jake found it difficult to transition from the military to the home front.

River, Jake’s bright and beautiful daughter, was the light of his life. She brought him joy and pride, and he cherished every moment spent with her. River is now left to navigate a future without her loving father. We, as Jake’s friends, family, and community, are coming together to ensure that River is supported, loved, and provided for during this incredibly difficult time.

Our goal with this GoFundMe campaign is to help cover the costs of Jake’s funeral and to create a fund for River’s future. We want to give Jake the dignified farewell he deserves and to provide financial security for River as she grows up without her father.

We understand that times are tough for many, and any amount you can contribute will help make a difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this with your network to help us reach as many people as possible. Your support means everything to us.

If you are struggling, please remember that you are not alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you are seeking help, please shoot us a DM. There are resources and people ready to support you. We are all in this fight together

The Moral Compass Federation joined eight Veterans Service Organizations in a letter to House leadership calling for critical amendments supporting our Afghan Allies to proceed to the House floor for a vote on inclusion in the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act.

“As we approach the three-year anniversary of the chaotic withdrawal from Kabul, our veterans continue to struggle with acute moral injury for having abandoned our Afghan comrades.”

Addressing this issue through the NDAA is appropriate, necessary, and will demonstrate to our veterans and Afghan allies that our country is committed to right these wrongs.

Statement from our Vice President and Executive Director

Timothy”Tito” Torres

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated members of our organization who courageously testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Oversight & Accountability. Your unwavering commitment to giving a voice to those who are often unheard is commendable, and you represented our community at large with distinction.

In times like these, it becomes evident that our collective efforts are larger than any individual among us. It is our duty to bring truth to power, and your testimonies were a compelling testament to that commitment.

We, as a community, know what is right, and we hold the moral compass of the nation. It is in moments like these that we must come together, support one another, and check in on our buddies. This journey is a marathon, and we must pace ourselves for the long road ahead.

I express my sincere appreciation to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for providing this invaluable opportunity for our voices to be heard. Their dedication to upholding democratic values and fostering open dialogue is crucial in shaping the future of our nation.

As we continue on this path, let us remain vigilant, steadfast, and united. Thank you once again for your courage, dedication, and commitment to the principles we hold dear. Together, we will navigate through these challenging times and work towards a better, more just society.

-Tito
