Hello Centaurs,
We are kicking off the new year with an exciting opportunity to support our youth! BCI and the equity team at Brooklyn Center Community Schools will be offering “Affinity Month Teach-ins.” Sign up, create a workshop and get paid to help out your community.
What’s that? Well, affinity months or heritage months are intended to help raise awareness and understanding for the group or culture such as Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Women's History Month plus many more!
Teach-ins started at the University of Michigan in 1965 as a way for community members to engage and enrich students through practical outside education. What would you want to teach to your younger self?

Teach-in format:
We are asking for those interested to come in and offer a teach-in connected to an affinity month around those themes of joy, heritage, identity, legacy, freedom, skills and history.
Because we believe in an equitable relationship, the equity team will be providing a small stipend to help with your workshop. This stipend can either be paid directly to you or a charitable organization of your choice.
We’ll be able to support 8 workshops. So, if finance was a barrier for you to get involved, now is your chance!
We’ll be starting with Black History month as our pilot month! Looking forward to starting the year off strong.
