The Local Government Unit of Dimiao successfully hosted the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Project Launching and STARBOOKS Turn-over Ceremony on January 20, 2026, at the Dimiao Multi-Purpose and Cultural Center (Dimiao, Bohol).
The event sparkled like a constellation in the cosmos of science and technology, education and governance. Representing the Department of Science and Technology, which spearheaded this timely and meaningful project, Ms. Vina R. Antopina (Provincial Science and Technology Director) led the turnover, along with fellow-DOST-Bohol POST officials, Dr. Generosa Castillo (Education Program Supervisor for Science and Technology), and Mr. Lope Hubac (Education Program Supervisor from the School Governance and Operations Division).
Meanwhile, SB Member Reu M. Hamlag, and heads from various national agencies also attended the event, accompanied by LYDO Clifford Jay B. Calihat, who represented Municipal Mayor Randolph L. Ang in giving out a heartwarming message, and MPDC Engr. George S. Isulat, who provided much of the legwork for this project to reach its sweet, victorious conclusion. Finally, leading her team of beneficiaries, Dr. Isidora H. Codilla (PSDS, DepEd-Dimiao) also came along with her DepEd family comprised of school heads and principals, school librarians, school ITs, and other representatives. Mr. Jayson Gamayon (SB Chair, Committee on Education) was also in attendance, having come from a very important meeting.
During the ceremony, several important items were officially turned over to the municipality: 20 units of desktop computers with STARBOOKS kiosks for 20 elementary and high schools and the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO); a two-way radio communication system; one fiberglass rescue boat; and, one early warning siren. These resources play a vital role in strengthening access to digital knowledge, improving science and technology education, enhancing disaster preparedness and response, and ensuring timely communication to help protect lives and properties in times of emergencies.
The LGU-Dimiao, headed by Hon. Mayor Randolph L. Ang, extends its deepest gratitude to the DOST, DepEd, and all partner agencies for their continued support and commitment to empowering the community through science and technology, education and innovation. This collaboration marks another significant step toward a more informed, resilient, and progressive Dimiao.
