Dos de Abril, 1898 โ€” Talisay rose in revolt.

Led by Don Potenciano โ€œPotenโ€ Alino, Talisaynons launched a coordinated attackโ€”striking the church, convent, Guardia Civil posts, and burning the hated Casa Corporacion in Uldog. For a moment, Talisay was free.

But Spain struck back.

With soldiers, cannons, and a gunboat, they burned homes from Tabunok to Poblacion. In the end, 57 Talisaynon revolutionaries were executed by the shoreโ€”their final confessions heard by Don Pablo Hermosa.

Their sacrifice ignited the Tres de Abril uprisingโ€ฆ and helped end Spanish rule in Cebu.

This happened in Talisay.
April 2, 1898.
