I waited tables growing up in Tyler at Mercado's, and this past August I had the opportunity to go back and work a shift myself. So when I hear testimony like today's, from a Memphis restaurant owner whose 30 employees are saving about $1,800 a year each under No Tax on Tips, it's personal. That's why I fought for this relief: it's real money for people doing work I remember doing myself.

High school artists across East Texas, the deadline for this year's Congressional Art Competition has moved to January 28.

That gives you more time to put your best work on paper, canvas or screen.
The overall winner's artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a full year, and we will honor our student artists at an awards reception in February.

Fifty years ago today, Congress passed the Hyde Amendment. It is estimated to have saved over 2.6 million lives.

The people of East Texas believe in the sanctity of every life and no tax dollars should be used to pay for abortions. The Hyde Amendment has upheld that principle for half a century, and I am proud to stand with everyone who has fought to protect it.

Thank you to National Right to Life for defending Hyde for 50 years. Thank you also to SBA Pro-Life America for its leadership and for the A+ on its National Pro-Life Scorecard for my record in the 119th Congress.

I'm encouraged by the dialogue and the Joint Commitment from President Trump's historic meeting with Tech leaders today.

Safety and innovation in AI can—and must—co-exist. And, this meeting proved that there is a determined group inside and outside of government committed to make sure both happen.

Through prudence, innovation, grit, and pure American exceptionalism, the United States has been solving problems for 250 years instead of shying away from them.

There’s no need to stop now. Responsibly, we can innovate and dominate when it comes to AI. Press on.

Today, I introduced the Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act — bipartisan legislation to bring film and television jobs back to East Texas and communities across the country.

For years, productions have been leaving the United States because other countries are offering bigger incentives to film there instead. That means fewer jobs for the caterers, hardware stores, hoteliers, and tradesmen who make film and TV production possible right here at home.

This bill creates a new federal tax credit to level the playing field — with extra incentives for productions that film in rural communities, and support for every phase of production, from filming to post-production to visual effects.

Texas is already leading the way with our own state program, and this bill builds a federal partner on top of what we've already built here.

I'm proud to work alongside Senator Tim Scott, and a bipartisan group of colleagues in the House to get this done — and grateful for the support of industry leaders, unions, and guilds across the country.

Today, I introduced the Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act with Senator Tim Scott, Rep Linda Sánchez, Rep Brian Jack, and Rep Laura Friedman to bring film and TV jobs back to states like Texas, Georgia and communities across America.
