🚑 FTO Friday 🚑
Behind every PCT 3 EMS provider is someone who took the time to teach, mentor, encourage, and lead. Today, we’re recognizing and sending our sincere appreciation to our incredible Field Training Officers while sharing the “why” behind what drives them to serve.
Our FTOs have a much more important job than simply teaching skills. They help shape the future of EMS through leadership, patience, mentorship, and real-world experience. Whether it’s helping a new provider gain confidence on a difficult call, teaching critical patient care skills, or simply being someone others can count on, their impact reaches far beyond the call itself.
Today, we’d like to recognize and thank the two Precinct 3 FTOs who have played a vital role in the EMS careers of so many of our first responders. While they each have different reasons for joining EMS, they share one thing in common — a passion for helping others during their time of need. ❤️

“I can’t say I chose it — I grew up in it. Firehouses and EMS stations have been a part of my life since I was little. One of my favorite memories was being on the beach with my uncle and watching him work a wreck right in front of me, then later that night responding to a fire. Watching the sky turn orange, I thought it was beautiful.
I am a third-generation responder and honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Every day is different. Every day brings something new. The knowledge is always changing and challenging.
Now, I’ve added teaching and training the next generation to that purpose, and I want them to become even better than me. I truly believe I was put here to help people, and I found a way to do it that I love. It may sound corny, but the saying is true — if you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

“I chose to be in EMS to make people’s worst day just a little less bad. I want people to feel like someone is there to protect them and take the best care of them possible.
I was inspired by my grandmother, who was a nurse, to pursue EMS and help others no matter what. My parents taught me to serve others, and EMS is the best way for me to do that.”
