The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing is one of the largest, most diverse expeditionary wings in the Air Force, providing combat airpower and support for Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom's Sentinel. The wing and its partners also support the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The Triangle "K" insignia on the tail of the 379th's B-17s showed the group was assigned to the 1st Air Division and the "K" designated the 379th as the 11th group to enter combat. The Triangle "K" and the 379th were known as the Grand Slam Group because it had the best bombing results, greatest tonnage of bombs dropped, largest number of aircraft attacking and the lowest abort rate in the 8th Air Force. Today the Triangle "K" still strikes fear in the heart of the enemy and stands as a symbol of excellence for combat air operations.

Grand Slam MVP 🏆: Senior Airman Svyatoslav Krel

Streamlining the system behind the scenes.

Assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron lodging section, Krel supports the wing by developing technology-driven solutions that manage work orders, data and daily task tracking.

Krel leverages his background as a senior software engineer to improve daily workflows.

“I like to talk to people about what they may struggle with and see if I can help build a long-term tool,” Krel explained.

From data comparisons to work order tracking tools, Krel helps streamline processes that support lodging operations across the installation.

Lab tested, POL approved ⛽

Before fuel makes it to the fleet, 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels laboratory technicians employ a variety of processes to test the quality of fuel and identify and eliminate impurities, guaranteeing aircraft receive mission-ready fuel and sustain combat capabilities.

💥🥊 Eyes on the prize and the mission 🥊💥

When they're not inspecting, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electronic aircraft systems, Airman 1st Class Elias Aurello and Airman 1st Class Brian Witiszin, 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron avionics technicians, are putting in the work and sharpening their skills as they prepare for Rumble in the Deid V!

From slipping punches to setting up strategic counters, these warriors are proving that boxing is just as much about mental agility as it is physical strength. Their dedication, discipline, and teamwork are on display as they continue to push themselves and each other to be their best.

Strengthening partnerships 🇶🇦🇺🇸

AUAB hosted Partnership Day, an event showcasing interoperability and appreciation for host nation partners. The day brought together Qatari military members, families, U.S. Embassy Doha representatives, joint U.S. service members, and coalition forces and featured static aircraft displays and various capability demonstrations.

E⚡E keeps the gear golden

Aircraft electrical and environmental systems technicians assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron replaced a lock and position switch on a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. The switch communicates the position status of landing gear to pilots and prevents accidental retraction of landing gear.

To test the success of the replacement, the technicians then conducted a landing gear swing, retracting and extending the landing gear multiple times to confirm landing gear functionality as well as proper status indication on the flight deck.

Bending metal, mending patients 🧰

Airmen assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron sheet metal shop regularly craft solutions on and off the flight line. Recently, the shop fabricated a custom oxygen tank holding bracket to attach to a Code Blue emergency cart that will support the 379th Expeditionary Medical Squadron's emergency response capabilities.

Training together 💪

Leadership goes beyond the office. Master Sgt. Frank Dominguez, with the 379th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron, supports service members as a superintendent and as a coach for Rumble in the Deid V.

Dominguez works with service members helping develop discipline, resilience and connection. His leadership supports both the mission and the people behind Rumble in the Deid.

Ruck it to the limit 🏃

Over 150 U.S. and partner nation service members participated in a Norwegian Foot March hosted by the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Host Nation Coordination Cell. The timed march tests members' physical and mental endurance along an 18.64 mile route while carrying a 25-lb. rucksack.

The march's origins date back to 1915 when the Norwegian Armed Forces used the same parameters to prepare their recruits for military service. Today, members who complete the march within the allotted time are eligible to receive and don the NFM skill badge.

Safety first! 🚒

Royal Air Force members held a safety day to educate members on how to handle and avoid potentially dangerous situations such as vehicle troubles and common fire hazards.

To make the day more interactive, RAF leaders set up a fire drill scenario that tested members on evacuation and reaction and included a full response from Fire and Emergency Services and medical first responders, who simulated rescuing and treating a victim for burns and smoke inhalation before transferring them to a medical facility.

🏆Grand Slam MVP Spotlight: Tech. Sgt. ChristianJoy White

White, a base engine manager with the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing A4 Directorate, plays a critical role in sustaining airpower across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

“As small as we might think that we are, we’re so integral in the grand scheme of the Air Force mission,” she said.

White manages over $1 billion in aircraft engines and validates over 600K maintenance inspections, helping ensure the 379th AEW delivers reliable combat power alongside coalition partners.
