What gives you hope?

Last week at TUC Cymru Congress, we asked people exactly that and the answers made us smile. We heard everything from simple acts of kindness to big moments of solidarity. And speaking to people across the week, we could feel that hope is alive and well in our communities.

When we show up for each other and help new neighbours become friends, that's when something real happens. And together, those moments are what the Million Acts of Hope campaign is all about.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Here's what people had to share

One million acts of hope starts with you ๐ŸŒŸ

When we take the chance to get together in our communities, it reminds us of our strength and how much we can achieve. The power of sharing what's important to us really matters.

Next week we'll be at the TUC Cymru to celebrate and turn messages into positive action to strengthen all our communities and support people to rebuild their lives.

There are so many fantastic events going on in our communities over the next week.

Flick through the images to see what's going on near you or check out our ideas to get inspired to run your own get-together!

What do you know about sanctuary and Wales?

When it comes to sanctuary and what it means to find safety in Cymru, we don't always hear about the facts. It's why we've created a new guide with City of Sanctuary to help you go behind the headlines.

The guide is free and accessible in English and Welsh.

Something special happened in Cardiff last week ๐Ÿงก

For the first time in Wales, we brought together artists, theatre managers, and community groups to plan Refugee Week 2026, and the energy in that room was something else!

By the end of the afternoon, our group had shared some incredible ideas for collaboration including:

๐Ÿงบ Community picnics

๐ŸŽต Shared song sessions

โšฝ Sports tournaments

One member summed it up perfectly, "This is what community actually looks like."

Diolch o galon to our pals at Sanctuary Coalition Cymru and Refugee Week for helping us make it happen and to every person who showed up with ideas and open hearts.

Two minutes to make an impact. Really.

Hostile headlines don't just stay online. They have real consequences for sanctuary seekers and refugees in Wales, in our communities and on the street.

You can change that. There's still time to write to your Senedd candidates to share:

โœ… Why the language we use around sanctuary matters

โœ… How Wales can lead the UK in getting this right

Will you be one of those who makes a difference? Two minutes is all it takes and now is the time to act.

Some conversations take courage.

Together with DPIA we hosted people seeking sanctuary and Welsh Parliament Senedd candidates to share what really matters: safety, belonging, a fair chance.

โฐ Today is your last chance to register to vote, so make sure you're signed up to have your say.

Two minutes. That's all it takes to go Behind the Headlines.

Language shapes how we see and treat each other. When it spreads misinformation and hate, it's sanctuary seekers and refugees who suffer.

Your voice matters. Write to your Senedd candidates today to share:

โœ… Why language around sanctuary matters
โœ… How Wales can lead the way

It starts with two minutes of your time. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Happy Newroz ๐ŸŒฑ

Yesterday we shared a beautiful evening of story and colour at the Senedd to celebrate the new year with Kurdish All Wales Association

Thank you to everyone who joined in to welcome the new year and arrival of spring, diolch o galon ๐ŸŒผ

This was an evening all about light and unity, including performances from young children singing confidently in Kurdish Sorani and Cymraeg.

And what better way to also celebrate what makes Wales so special as a Nation of Sanctuary, where communities can find belonging and new beginnings ๐Ÿงก

Sala nรป pรฎroz be!
